We’ve covered Rulebound several times before, and now the wait is almost over. Developer Garage Monke is preparing to release its unusual psychological horror game on November 10, 2026, for PC via Steam.
For those who have followed our previous coverage, Rulebound combines incremental gameplay with psychological horror, forcing players to balance their progress on an old television with the dangers lurking around them.
With its release just days away, players will soon have the opportunity to discover whether they can follow the rules and escape the mysterious Void.
Rulebound Combines Incremental Gameplay With Psychological Horror
As we’ve previously highlighted, Rulebound takes place inside a strange bedroom suspended somewhere between reality and the Void.
At the center of the experience sits an old CRT television displaying a seemingly harmless disc-merging game. However, this television is much more than a simple distraction. It represents the player’s only apparent opportunity to escape.
Players must bounce discs across the screen to earn points, combine matching discs, and purchase upgrades. Their ultimate objective is to create three Golden Discs.
Each time a disc touches the television screen’s border, players earn points. Corner hits provide additional rewards, while merging three discs unlocks higher tiers and increasingly powerful multipliers.
Permanent upgrades and a fast-forward mechanic allow players to accelerate their progress. Additionally, hidden cheat codes provide opportunities to experiment with the game’s mechanics.
However, focusing entirely on the television is a dangerous mistake.
The Rules Are Just as Important as Progress
One of the most interesting aspects of Rulebound, which we’ve discussed in our earlier coverage, is how the game forces players to divide their attention.
While the incremental game continues running, strange events begin unfolding inside the bedroom.
Mysterious entities can appear, environmental anomalies may develop, and the surrounding world becomes increasingly unpredictable.
Fortunately, players have access to handwritten instructions explaining how to survive these encounters.
Following those instructions is essential. Players must recognize unusual changes, respond appropriately, and prevent their sanity from collapsing.
Ignoring the rules could result in deadly consequences.
This creates an unusual gameplay loop in which players must constantly decide whether to concentrate on earning points or investigate something suspicious happening around them.
Unlike traditional horror games that rely heavily on exploration or combat, Rulebound builds tension through observation, multitasking, and the constant possibility of making a fatal mistake.
Rulebound Offers Multiple Endings and Hidden Secrets
Garage Monke has also included several features designed to encourage players to experiment beyond the main objective.
Rulebound features multiple endings, suggesting that escaping the Void may not be as straightforward as creating three Golden Discs.
Hidden cheat codes introduce additional secrets, while Gallery Mode showcases artwork contributed by different artists.
These features could provide additional replay value, especially for players interested in uncovering everything the game has to offer.
The combination of incremental progression and psychological horror remains Rulebound’s biggest attraction. What initially appears to be a relaxing game about earning points gradually becomes something far more unsettling.
Rulebound Finally Arrives November 10
After following Rulebound’s development and sharing previous updates about the project, we’re pleased to see the game approaching its official release.
Rulebound launches November 10, 2026, on Steam, with Garage Monke serving as both developer and publisher.
The game is a single-player experience and includes Steam achievements. Its relatively modest minimum PC requirements include 4 GB of RAM and 2 GB of available storage space.
A playable demo is also available for those interested in experiencing its unusual combination of incremental gameplay and horror before purchasing the full release.
With only a few days remaining, Rulebound is another interesting indie release worth keeping an eye on.
We’ve been following this project for some time, and we’re looking forward to seeing how its unusual concept comes together in the finished game.
After all, earning points might be simple, but surviving the Void is an entirely different challenge.
