Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble is officially shutting down. Developer Oh BiBi has confirmed that development on the free-to-play mobile shooter has ended. The game will disappear from app stores later this month, while its servers will permanently close on May 1, 2027.
The announcement comes less than a year after the game’s initial reveal. Players can continue enjoying the available content for several more months, but the decision marks an early end for the multiplayer spin-off.
Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble Development Has Ended
Oh BiBi confirmed that it has immediately stopped development on Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble. The studio released the game’s final update on November 6, 2026.
The developer originally announced the mobile title in November 2025. Developed in collaboration with Insomniac Games and PlayStation, Ranger Rumble aimed to bring the popular franchise into the competitive multiplayer market.
Unlike the traditional Ratchet & Clank adventures, Ranger Rumble focused on hero shooter gameplay. The free-to-play title featured familiar characters, multiplayer battles, and progression systems designed for mobile devices.
Public pre-registration opened on July 15, 2026, alongside a gradual regional rollout. However, the game will now close before receiving a wider, long-term release.
Oh BiBi thanked its community for supporting the project. However, the studio did not explain why development ended.
Ranger Rumble Servers Will Shut Down on May 1, 2027
Although development has stopped, players still have time to enjoy Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble.
The developer confirmed that the game will remain playable until May 1, 2027. All existing characters, game modes, and previously released content will remain accessible during this period.
However, the shutdown process has several important dates.
The final update arrived on November 6, 2026. Next, Oh BiBi will remove the game from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store on November 21, 2026.
Finally, the servers will permanently shut down on May 1, 2027. After that date, players will no longer be able to access the online multiplayer experience.
Because Ranger Rumble depends on online servers, the shutdown effectively ends access to the game.
Super Pass Becomes Free as In-App Purchases End
Oh BiBi has also introduced several changes to the game’s progression and monetization systems.
The current Super Pass is now completely free for all remaining players. Furthermore, the developer has disabled all in-app purchases.
Players who previously purchased in-game currency can continue spending their remaining balance until the servers close in May 2027.
Meanwhile, Quark Pass progression will remain available. Players can continue earning rewards and redeeming their progress throughout the remaining service period.
These changes allow the community to experience more of the existing content without spending additional money.
How to Request a Ranger Rumble Refund
Players who purchased premium currency may want to request a refund following the shutdown announcement.
However, Oh BiBi has directed refund requests to the respective mobile storefronts rather than offering a separate refund system.
Android players must contact Google Play support, while iOS players must submit their requests through Apple’s App Store support services.
Refund eligibility will depend on the applicable storefront policies. Therefore, players should not assume that every previous purchase automatically qualifies for reimbursement.
Previously redeemed currency will remain usable until the servers close.
Another Ratchet & Clank Project Comes to an Early End
The cancellation raises further questions about the future of the Ratchet & Clank franchise.
The last mainline installment, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, launched for PlayStation 5 in June 2021. Since then, fans have continued waiting for news about another major adventure featuring the iconic duo.
Leaks from 2023 suggested that Insomniac Games had plans for another Ratchet & Clank title. However, a separate leak in 2024 raised questions about whether that rumored project remained in development.
Neither report should be treated as official confirmation of the franchise’s future.
Furthermore, Ranger Rumble was a separate mobile project developed by Oh BiBi. Its cancellation does not necessarily indicate anything about Insomniac Games’ plans for the mainline series.
Nevertheless, the shutdown represents another disappointing development for fans hoping to see the franchise expand.
The End of Ranger Rumble Highlights the Risks of Online-Only Games
Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble joins a growing number of online-only games facing shutdowns that permanently remove access to their content.
Unlike traditional single-player releases, these games often depend entirely on publisher-operated servers. Once those servers disappear, players can lose access regardless of their previous purchases or progression.
Ranger Rumble’s short lifespan also highlights the challenges facing free-to-play multiplayer games. Even established franchises cannot guarantee long-term success in an increasingly competitive market.
For now, players have until May 1, 2027, to enjoy the remaining content.
After that, Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble will become another discontinued online game, with no announced offline alternative.
