CD Projekt Red has officially announced Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5, bringing fresh content to Night City alongside the release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 on Netflix.
The free update arrives on October 22, 2026, introducing anime-inspired content, cyberware customization, and a new dual-wielding playstyle.
Despite the game’s age, CD Projekt Red clearly isn’t finished with Night City just yet.
Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 Release Date Confirmed
Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 launches on October 22 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Nintendo Switch 2 players will also receive the update, although CD Projekt Red has not announced an exact release date for that version.
The update will be completely free, allowing existing players to explore the new additions without purchasing additional content.
New Cyberware Customization and Dual-Wielding
One of the most interesting additions is a new dual-wielding playstyle.
Until now, Cyberpunk 2077 has focused primarily on single-weapon combat, alongside its extensive cyberware abilities and melee options.
Update 2.5 promises to expand those possibilities, potentially giving players more freedom when approaching combat encounters.
CD Projekt Red has also confirmed new cyberware customization features. However, the developer has not yet explained exactly how these systems will function.
Additional items and content inspired by Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 are also coming to the game.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 Is Now Available
The update coincides with the arrival of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 on Netflix.
The second installment premiered on October 20, 2026, with all ten episodes available immediately.
Unlike the original anime, Edgerunners 2 introduces a new cast of characters and tells a standalone story within Night City.
The series once again brings together CD Projekt Red and animation studio TRIGGER.
Fans of the original anime might remember the Edgerunners Update from September 2022. That patch introduced new weapons, equipment, quests, and cosmetic options inspired by the show.
While Update 2.5 follows a similar theme, players should not assume it will contain the same amount of content.

CD Projekt Red will reveal additional information during a special REDstreams broadcast on October 21 at 5 PM CEST.
The presentation will showcase several features arriving with Update 2.5, including the new combat options and cyberware customization.

Cyberpunk 2077 has undergone an enormous transformation since its troubled launch in December 2020.

Now, nearly six years after its original release, CD Projekt Red continues to introduce new reasons for players to return.
With Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 bringing renewed attention to the franchise, Update 2.5 arrives at an excellent time.
