GTA V’s Biggest Construction Meme Is Finally Over After 13 Years

For more than a decade, Grand Theft Auto V players have watched the same skyscraper sit unfinished in Los Santos. Construction equipment remained in place, the building never opened, and workers apparently enjoyed one of the longest construction projects in gaming history.

Now, after almost 13 years, the infamous skyscraper has finally been completed.

There is a catch, though. Rockstar Games did not finish it through a massive GTA Online update or a long-awaited heist. Instead, its completed form has appeared as part of the upcoming NoPixel V roleplay experience.

The Mile High Club Is Finally Finished

GTA V launched back in September 2013, yet one part of downtown Los Santos seemingly remained frozen in time.

The Mile High Club construction site became one of GTA V’s most recognizable landmarks. Despite years passing within GTA Online and countless major updates arriving, construction on the skyscraper never appeared to make meaningful progress.

Naturally, players turned it into a meme.

Every new GTA Online expansion provided another opportunity to wonder whether Rockstar would finally complete the building. Some players even speculated that the skyscraper could eventually become the location of a new business, apartment complex, casino-style property, or major heist.

None of that happened.

Instead, the construction site simply remained.

NoPixel V Has Finally Changed That

That is about to change with NoPixel V.

Rockstar’s announcement surrounding the overhauled roleplay server included a screenshot of its redesigned map. Players quickly noticed something unusual where the famous construction site normally sits.

The skyscraper was finished.

Known as the Pixel Hotel, the completed structure effectively provides players with a finished version of one of GTA V’s longest-running unfinished landmarks.

It may not technically represent Rockstar completing the building in standard GTA Online, but after nearly 13 years of looking at cranes and exposed concrete, GTA fans can finally see what a completed tower looks like in Los Santos.

Players Expected GTA Online To Finish It

The Mile High Club has appeared throughout GTA V and GTA Online’s enormous lifespan without receiving its long-awaited completion.

That became particularly noticeable during content such as the Cayo Perico Heist preparations, where the construction site remained part of Los Santos despite years of GTA Online updates taking place around it.

For a game that continuously transformed its online world with businesses, bunkers, nightclubs, casinos, agencies and countless other properties, the untouched skyscraper became increasingly amusing.

At some point, its unfinished state became part of GTA V’s identity.

Finishing it almost felt wrong.

The Pixel Hotel Could Become Much More Than Scenery

The biggest difference with NoPixel V is that the building does not necessarily need to remain decorative.

Roleplay servers thrive on locations that players can transform into businesses, meeting points and story hubs. A hotel in the middle of Los Santos creates plenty of possibilities.

Players could potentially use the Pixel Hotel for businesses, criminal operations, social events, jobs, storylines and countless community-created scenarios depending on how NoPixel chooses to implement the location.

That gives the skyscraper something it never really had during GTA V’s original lifespan: a purpose beyond being an eternal construction site.

NoPixel V Launches September 8

Players will not have to wait long to explore the redesigned Los Santos.

NoPixel V is scheduled to launch on September 8, bringing its heavily overhauled GTA V roleplaying experience alongside significant changes to the familiar map.

The completed skyscraper may only represent one part of that overhaul, but longtime GTA players immediately understand why it stands out.

This building has effectively been under construction since 2013.

Some real-world skyscrapers have been built faster.

A Fitting Goodbye To The GTA V Era

The timing also feels appropriate.

GTA V has enjoyed an extraordinary lifespan since its September 2013 release. GTA Online helped keep Los Santos active across multiple console generations while Rockstar continued expanding the game with new vehicles, businesses, missions and major updates.

Meanwhile, attention is increasingly shifting toward Grand Theft Auto VI, which Rockstar currently has scheduled for November 19.

Whether GTA VI can remain culturally relevant for as long as GTA V remains impossible to predict. GTA V benefited from an unusual combination of enormous sales, GTA Online’s success, multiple console generations and more than a decade without a new numbered Grand Theft Auto release.

However, one of GTA V’s oldest jokes has finally received something resembling an ending.

After almost 13 years of construction, the Mile High Club is finally complete.

It just took NoPixel to finish the job.
