Pokémon TCG Veteran iCaterpie Permanently Banned After Judge Complaint

The competitive Pokémon Trading Card Game community is facing another controversy. Alessandro “iCaterpie” Cremascoli, a veteran player with more than 25 years of experience, says he has received a permanent ban from all future Play! Pokémon events.

The punishment reportedly followed a social media post in which Cremascoli criticized a tournament judge over an incident at the 2026 Pokémon World Championships.

With no public explanation from The Pokémon Company, the decision has raised questions about transparency, player rights, and how tournament organizers handle complaints.

Pokémon TCG Veteran Banned After Social Media Complaint

Cremascoli has spent over two decades competing in the Pokémon TCG scene. Beyond tournaments, he has helped teach the game to players throughout Italy.

However, his competitive career now appears to have reached an unexpected end.

On October 16, Cremascoli publicly complained about how a judge treated him during the Pokémon World Championships in San Francisco.

He reportedly deleted the post approximately six hours later.

Despite removing the complaint, Cremascoli says he received a permanent ban from future Play! Pokémon events.

The timing made the situation particularly frustrating. He received the notification shortly before traveling to the Nice Regional Championships, scheduled for October 17–18.

Did Naming the Judge Lead to the Ban?

The exact reason behind the permanent ban remains unclear.

Pokémon TCG content creator JenTCG suggested that Cremascoli may have crossed a line by identifying the judge involved in the original complaint.

However, this remains speculation rather than a confirmed explanation.

The Pokémon Company has not publicly clarified which tournament rules Cremascoli allegedly violated.

That lack of transparency creates an important question: should a player lose their entire competitive career for publicly criticizing a tournament official?

Tournament judges deserve protection against harassment and personal attacks. However, players should also have reasonable ways to challenge decisions they believe are unfair.

Without an official explanation, the community cannot determine whether the punishment was proportionate.

Three More Italian Players Faced Problems at Pokémon Worlds

Cremascoli’s situation is not the only controversy involving Italian competitors at the 2026 Pokémon World Championships.

Three other players reportedly encountered problems during the event:

  • Luca Ceribelli
  • Luca Lussignoli
  • Ruben Gianzini

According to reports, officials confiscated their badges following a confrontation involving alleged line-cutting at the Pokémon Center.

Losing their badges effectively prevented the players from participating in the World Championships.

Although this incident is separate from Cremascoli’s ban, both situations have contributed to discussions about tournament enforcement.

Competitive events require clear rules. However, players also expect organizers to apply those rules consistently and explain serious disciplinary decisions.

Pokémon TCG Community Divided Over Permanent Ban

Community reactions have been mixed.

Some players believe permanent bans should remain reserved for serious misconduct, particularly when someone has contributed to the competitive scene for decades.

Others argue that publicly identifying tournament officials can create unnecessary risks, especially when complaints spread across social media.

Both concerns deserve consideration.

Judges should not become targets of online harassment simply because players disagree with their decisions. At the same time, criticizing an official decision should not automatically be treated as harassment.

The distinction matters, especially when a permanent ban could prevent someone from competing again.

Until The Pokémon Company provides more information, it remains impossible to establish whether Cremascoli’s punishment was justified.

Pokémon TCG Continues Facing Problems Beyond Tournaments

The latest controversy arrives during a challenging period for the Pokémon Trading Card Game.

Scalping and limited product availability continue to frustrate collectors and players. Popular releases regularly attract resellers hoping to profit from high demand.

Meanwhile, competitive controversies have added another concern for dedicated players.

For a franchise built around collecting, trading, and community participation, maintaining trust remains essential.

Players want fair tournaments, accessible products, and clear communication when problems occur.

Pokémon TCG Delta Reign Launches November 6

Despite the controversy, The Pokémon Company is preparing its next major expansion.

Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution — Delta Reign is scheduled to launch worldwide on November 6, 2026.

The expansion will feature more than 135 cards, giving collectors and competitive players another set to explore.

Prerelease events are scheduled to begin on October 24, allowing players to experience the new cards ahead of the official launch.

The upcoming expansion should generate plenty of excitement. However, the ongoing tournament controversy could remain a talking point within the competitive community.

A Permanent Ban Deserves a Clear Explanation

A competitive career spanning more than 25 years should not end without a transparent explanation of the alleged violation.

That does not mean Cremascoli is automatically innocent or that tournament organizers acted improperly. The public simply lacks enough information to reach either conclusion.

The Pokémon Company has every right to enforce its tournament policies. However, permanent exclusions are serious decisions that deserve proper justification.

For now, iCaterpie says his competitive Pokémon TCG career is over, while the community continues debating whether the punishment fits the alleged offense.
