While official Pokémon games are heading toward a Southeast Asia-inspired region with Pokémon Winds and Waves, one ambitious fan project is taking a completely different direction. Pokémon Victory aims to bring players into a world inspired by Ancient Greece, complete with an entirely original Pokédex featuring 140 brand-new Pokémon.
A New Region Inspired by Ancient Greece
Developed by Pinnari, Pokémon Victory is an unofficial fan-made project that combines a nostalgic visual style with modern gameplay ideas.
The game features pixel art reminiscent of Pokémon Gold and Silver, while also introducing an open-world structure. Alongside the new creatures, classic Pokémon will receive completely original sprite artwork instead of reusing existing designs.
Early screenshots shared by the developer showcase several new Pokémon, including:
- A brand-new starter trio.
- Multiple original regional creatures.
- A mysterious Legendary Pokémon inspired by the mythological Cyclops.
Although no playable demo has been released yet, the developer has confirmed that more information will be shared as development progresses.
Replacing Gyms with the Poké Olympics
Instead of following the traditional Gym Leader formula, Pokémon Victory introduces a completely different progression system.
Players will compete in the Poké Olympics, a tournament featuring 10 unique events rather than collecting Gym Badges. While the developer has not revealed exactly how these events will work, the concept offers a fresh alternative to the formula used throughout most mainline Pokémon games.
Several official Pokémon titles have experimented with different progression systems over the years, making this one of the more interesting ideas seen in the fan-game community.
Official Pokémon Still Has Plenty Ahead
While Pokémon Victory is attracting attention, official Pokémon fans also have several major releases to look forward to.
The next major content update arrives with Pokémon Pokopia: Bubbly Basin, which introduces:
- A brand-new underwater town.
- The return of the Dive ability through a free update.
- The first of three planned expansion packs.
Two additional expansions are currently scheduled, with the second arriving later this year and the final expansion planned for early 2027.
Pokémon Winds and Waves Remains Quiet
Meanwhile, fans waiting for Pokémon Winds and Waves may have to remain patient.
Recent reports and reliable leaks suggest that no significant updates are expected throughout the remainder of this year. If those reports prove accurate, the next official reveal will most likely take place during Pokémon Day on February 27, 2027.
That presentation is expected to include another trailer, additional gameplay details, and a closer look at some of the brand-new Pokémon arriving in the next mainline generation ahead of its expected late-2027 launch on the Nintendo Switch 2.
For now, Pokémon Victory offers fans something completely different to follow while waiting for the next official adventure.
