Digimon Story Time Stranger Heads to Nintendo Platforms This July

Bandai Namco has officially confirmed that Digimon Story: Time Stranger is coming to both Nintendo Switch and the next-generation Switch 2.
The announcement was made during the February 5 Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, with both versions scheduled to launch on July 10 in physical and digital formats.

The RPG originally debuted on PC and current-generation consoles less than a year earlier, making the Nintendo release part of a broader push to bring major third-party titles to the evolving Switch ecosystem throughout 2026.

A Time-Traveling Digimon Adventure

Time Stranger centers on a protagonist sent eight years into the past to investigate a mysterious calamity.
Players will encounter familiar Digimon such as Agumon and Gabumon while navigating a narrative built around time travel, investigation, and large-scale digital threats.

Additional story content is already planned through post-launch downloadable episodes, including the Alternate Dimension and Gaku-Ran scenarios.
These expansions are available individually or through a season pass and are currently visible on the Nintendo eShop ahead of release.

Switch 2 Brings Enhanced Visual Modes

The Switch 2 version introduces multiple graphical configurations designed to take advantage of the newer hardware.

  • Quality Mode delivers 4K resolution with HDR while docked, HDR in handheld play, and a locked 30 FPS presentation.
  • Performance Mode targets 60 FPS gameplay at 1080p resolution.

The native Switch version does not include these options by default.
However, players running the Switch edition on Switch 2 hardware can download a free update that unlocks the enhanced visual modes.

One important limitation is that save data cannot transfer between different platform ports, meaning progress remains tied to the specific version being played.

Pricing, Storage, and Pre-Orders

Pre-orders are already live digitally, with separate store listings for Switch and Switch 2.

  • Base edition priced at $59.99
  • Ultimate edition priced at $109.99

Storage requirements vary between roughly 12GB and 16GB, depending on the selected version and content package.

Part of a Larger 2026 Switch Lineup

The reveal arrives during a partner-focused showcase highlighting numerous third-party projects targeting Switch 2.
Together, these announcements signal a busy release calendar for Nintendo’s next console generation, with major RPGs and cross-platform titles playing a central role in its early software lineup.

Digimon Story: Time Stranger now stands among the confirmed mid-year releases expected to help define the system’s first full year on the market.
