The ongoing Paradox Tera Raid event in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is facing a major issue that prevents trainers from joining raids hosted by players with the opposite version of the game. The Pokémon Company has officially acknowledged the problem and apologized to players while confirming that an investigation is underway. However, no estimated fix date has been provided at this time.
Paradox Tera Raid Event Overview
The current event began on October 2, featuring Seven-Star Tera Raids against Roaring Moon in Pokémon Scarlet and Iron Valiant in Pokémon Violet. Additionally, Five-Star Paradox Raids for Great Tusk and Iron Treads also returned.
- Roaring Moon sports a Dragon-Tera Type,
- Iron Valiant features a Fairy-Tera Type.
The event is scheduled to conclude on Sunday, October 12, at 7:59 PM Eastern, leaving players a limited window to participate. It’s unclear if these Paradox Pokémon will return in future events.
Cross-Version Bug Prevents Co-op Raids
Traditionally, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet players could join each other’s version-exclusive Tera Raids online. However, this time, Scarlet players are currently unable to join Iron Valiant raids, while Violet players cannot participate in Roaring Moon raids.
Initially, some trainers speculated this was a deliberate change, but The Pokémon Company has confirmed it to be a bug affecting online matchmaking. The company issued a statement apologizing for the inconvenience and assured fans that a fix is in development—though no timetable was given.
Event Battle Mechanics
In these Seven-Star Tera Raids, both Roaring Moon and Iron Valiant enter battle with field effects that immediately activate their respective Paradox abilities:
- Roaring Moon uses Sunny Day, triggering Protosynthesis to boost one of its highest stats.
- Iron Valiant uses Electric Terrain, activating Quark Drive for a similar boost.
Players must carefully manage stat changes and status effects to survive these challenging encounters, especially given the limited opportunity to retry the event before it ends.
Growing Player Frustration
The connectivity issue follows closely after the controversial Shiny Koraidon and Miraidon distribution event, which already left parts of the community dissatisfied. Many players have since voiced frustration on social media over Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s ongoing technical issues and lack of timely communication.
With the Paradox Tera Raid event nearing its conclusion and no immediate fix in sight, trainers can only face the challenges available in their own version until The Pokémon Company resolves the issue.
