Fortnite Temporarily Disables Precision Air Strike in Battle Royale

Epic Games has temporarily disabled the Precision Air Strike in Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode, only days after its arrival. The decision follows the discovery of an unspecified issue that forced developers to pull the item while they work on a fix.

A Short-Lived Addition to Battle Royale

Precision Air Strikes were added to Fortnite on August 26 as part of Chapter 6 Season 4, which itself launched earlier in the month on August 7. Introduced as a Legendary consumable, the item allowed players to call in devastating bombardments from above, quickly earning popularity among the community.

Videos shared online showcased players wiping out entire squads with a single strike, confirming its potency as one of the most powerful tools in recent Fortnite history. However, its strength may have also contributed to the temporary removal, with players speculating that balancing concerns or a glitch were behind the decision.

Epic’s Official Response

The announcement came through the official Fortnite Status channel, confirming the removal without offering details. Developers assured players that the item would return once the issue had been resolved, though no timeframe has been provided.

Community reactions were quick, with many fans expressing their preference for the item and asking for an ETA on its return. Others pointed to clips of apparent bugs, including cases where players appeared to use the consumable indefinitely, suggesting this may have triggered the pause.

What’s Next for Fortnite

While Precision Air Strike remains on hold, Epic Games continues to expand Fortnite’s reach. A recent partnership with Nvidia GeForce Now will soon allow players to launch the game directly through Discord, bypassing traditional downloads in favor of cloud play.

The move further demonstrates Fortnite’s focus on accessibility while ensuring gameplay remains balanced and fair, even if it means temporarily removing new items like the Precision Air Strike.
