Everwind Is a Sandbox Survival Game with Minecraft-Like Graphics

Everwind is an upcoming sandbox survival game on Steam that instantly catches the eye with its voxel-based visuals reminiscent of Minecraft. But while comparisons to Mojang’s giant are inevitable, Everwind is shaping up to be more than just another clone. Instead, it looks like a fresh take on the sandbox genre, bringing new mechanics and ideas that could help it stand out as a major indie hit.

Previously known as SkyVerse, the game is being developed by Enjoy Studio and published by Bohemia Interactive, best known for DayZ. Everwind places a strong focus on exploration, crafting, farming, spellcasting, and combat within a procedurally generated voxel world. Every island and map will be different, giving players a new experience each time they dive in. Players will also be able to team up in co-op mode to create a moving castle together, adding a collaborative twist to traditional sandbox gameplay.

Everwind’s Unique Features

Some fans have already described Everwind as “Minecraft in Unreal Engine,” thanks to its more realistic voxel graphics. However, the developers appear intent on pushing beyond imitation. One of the standout features is the customizable airship, which doubles as the player’s base of operations and can move across the world. Exploration takes place across three different altitude levels and more than three biomes, each with distinct procedurally generated landscapes.

This layered approach to world design, combined with mechanics like spellcasting and moving fortresses, helps Everwind carve out its own identity in a crowded genre.

Strong Community Support

Since its official reveal in 2024, Everwind has generated significant interest. The game raised over €40,000 on Kickstarter, surpassing its €30,000 goal, and has already been wishlisted over 300,000 times on Steam. This momentum has propelled it into the top 150 most anticipated games on the platform.

Fans won’t have to wait too long either. Everwind is slated for early access on Steam in the first half of 2026, with a full release expected in early 2027. Console versions are also planned, with crossplay support under consideration, though specific platforms and release timing remain unconfirmed.

With its combination of survival, creativity, and exploration, Everwind could be the sandbox game to watch as it heads toward release.
