Pokémon GO players will soon face a powerful challenge as Mega Gyarados Raid Day arrives on Sunday, August 31, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. This special event offers Trainers the chance to battle Mega Gyarados in raids, earn exclusive bonuses, and even encounter its Shiny form.
Featured Pokémon and Attack
Mega Gyarados will headline the event, appearing more frequently in Mega Raids. Trainers who defeat it may encounter Shiny Gyarados. In addition, Gyarados caught during the event will know the exclusive Charged Attack Aqua Tail, adding utility to the Water- and Dark-type Pokémon’s battle role.
Event Bonuses
During Mega Gyarados Raid Day, several bonuses will be active:
- Remote Raid Pass limit increased to 20 from Saturday, August 30, 5:00 p.m. to Sunday, August 31, 8:00 p.m. PDT.
- Up to five additional free Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs (for a total of six).
- Increased Shiny Gyarados encounter rates from raids.
Event Ticket Perks
For US$4.99 (or local equivalent), Trainers can purchase an optional ticket that unlocks enhanced rewards, including:
- Eight additional Raid Passes from Gym Photo Discs (for a daily total of 14).
- Increased chance to earn Rare Candy XL for Trainers level 31 and above.
- 50% more XP from Raid Battles.
- 2× Stardust from Raid Battles.
Ticket bonuses apply only during the Raid Day hours. Thanks to the ongoing Sunkissed Shores event, ticket holders will receive a total of 3× XP from Raid Battles.
Tickets are available until Sunday, August 31, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. local time and can also be gifted to friends at the Great Friends level or higher. All ticket purchases, including gifts, are non-refundable and cannot be bought with PokéCoins.

A special Mega Gyarados Raid Day Ultra Ticket Box will also be available through the Pokémon GO Web Store for US$4.99. This bundle includes both the Raid Day ticket and a bonus Premium Battle Pass at no extra charge.
