A Rare Piece of Grand Theft Auto History Is Now Available to Fans
Grand Theft Auto 6 fans are being offered a rare opportunity to own a unique piece of gaming history. A replica police car that was used during the development of GTA 6 has gone up for auction, giving collectors and fans a chance to bring home a real-world item directly tied to the creation of the highly anticipated game.
Car Used in GTA 6’s Development
The vehicle in question is a 2013 Chevy police car that developers 3D-scanned to recreate as one of the police cars in GTA 6. Through 3D scanning, every detail of the real vehicle was captured and translated into a 3D mesh, allowing Rockstar to integrate it into the game with remarkable accuracy.
This means the winning bidder could drive the exact same car both in reality and within the virtual streets of Vice City once GTA 6 is released. The car is customized with Vice City police decals, a unique license plate reading “SCAREDU”, and markings on the hood, doors, and rear.
The listing also claims the vehicle was driven to promote the game, although it does not specify the circumstances or events where this occurred.
Current Bidding Status
The auction started with a modest opening bid of just $10. Unsurprisingly, interest quickly surged — at the time of writing, the car has received 20 bids, with the price sitting at $3,250.
Located in Colorado, the car is confirmed to be street legal and still “runs & drives.” This means the new owner could arrange transport, or potentially drive it home themselves once the auction ends.
A One-of-a-Kind Collectible
While gaming and automotive collaborations are nothing new, it’s rare for a car that was physically used in a game’s development to surface for public purchase. Beyond being a unique collector’s item, spotting this car in the real world would almost certainly cause some double takes — especially once fans recognize it in GTA 6.
With excitement around Rockstar’s upcoming title reaching new heights and the release date drawing closer, this auction gives one lucky fan the chance to literally bring a piece of GTA 6 history into their garage.
