LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Announced at Gamescom 2025

A brand-new entry in the LEGO Batman franchise, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, has been officially announced during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025. The reveal marks the long-awaited return of one of DC’s most beloved superheroes to the LEGO video game series.

Fans attending Europe’s largest gaming showcase won’t have to wait to experience it, as a playable demo is already available on the show floor. This early access lets players get a hands-on look at the dark yet playful spin LEGO is known for bringing to Gotham’s crime-fighting adventures.

A Return After More Than a Decade

The LEGO Batman series has been absent from consoles and PC for over a decade, with the last mainline release being LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham in 2014. The original LEGO Batman: The Videogame first debuted in 2008, kicking off a trilogy that became a cornerstone of LEGO’s video game success.

While there have been side projects since then—such as the mobile-only The LEGO Batman Movie Game in 2017 and Batman’s major role in LEGO DC Super-Villains in 2018—this new title represents the first dedicated LEGO Batman console and PC release in more than ten years.

What Fans Can Expect

Although Warner Bros. Games and TT Games have not revealed extensive details yet, the title Legacy of the Dark Knight suggests a celebration of Batman’s rich history. Fans can likely expect a blend of classic LEGO gameplay—humor, puzzles, and cooperative action—paired with new mechanics and storylines inspired by Batman’s long-standing legacy in comics, film, and games.

With the announcement coming at Gamescom, more information is expected to follow throughout the event, giving longtime fans and newcomers a clearer picture of what the Caped Crusader’s LEGO return will bring.
