A newly identified bug in the ongoing Battlefield 6 open beta is frustrating players by subtly breaking their aim after interrupted slides. The issue stems from the game’s bloom algorithm, leaving players stuck in a weakened aiming state without any clear indication.
Bloom—also known as weapon spread—is a mechanic that introduces a degree of randomness to bullet trajectories. Rather than every shot hitting precisely where aimed, bloom disperses bullets within a cone or similar area, discouraging constant automatic fire while adding unpredictability and balance. The mechanic has long been part of Battlefield gameplay, and Battlefield 6 continues this trend.
The Sliding Bloom Bug Explained
The bug, first highlighted by streamer Shroud and later analyzed by content creator TheXclusiveAce, occurs when the sliding animation is interrupted. If canceled by terrain collisions, geometry, or by jumping mid-slide, the game may mistakenly lock the player into a permanent sliding bloom state. This makes aiming significantly less accurate, even when standing still or crouching.
Because there is no visual feedback indicating that the bloom is stuck, many players may be unaware their aim is being compromised.
No Slide Cancel, But Slides Still Break
Unlike recent Call of Duty titles, Battlefield 6 does not feature a traditional slide cancel mechanic. However, slides are often interrupted unintentionally, which triggers the bug more often than players might expect. Jumping mid-slide, a maneuver already gaining traction for making movement less predictable, is one of the easiest ways to reproduce the issue.
Temporary Fix Before the Beta Ends
The bug is semi-permanent, persisting until the player completes a new, uninterrupted slide. Doing so resets bloom values and restores proper accuracy. With no official fix expected before the beta’s conclusion on August 18, this workaround is currently the only reliable solution.
The open beta is set to close early Monday morning, and while the sliding bloom bug likely won’t be resolved in time, players can expect a fix before Battlefield 6 officially launches on October 10.
