Battlefield 4 Sees Huge Player Surge Amid Battlefield 6 Beta Hype

Battlefield 4 is experiencing a massive resurgence on Steam, with player numbers skyrocketing thanks to the ongoing Battlefield 6 open beta. The 2013 title, fondly remembered for its large-scale battles and well-balanced gameplay, has become the go-to entry for fans revisiting the franchise ahead of the next major release later this year.

The Battlefield series has long stood alongside Call of Duty as one of the most influential first-person shooter franchises in gaming. However, after the disappointing launch of Battlefield 2042 in 2021, which was criticized for missing features, bugs, and the absence of a single-player campaign, many fans lost faith in the series. EA and DICE have since worked to regain the community’s trust, and the response to Battlefield 6 suggests that confidence may finally be returning.

Battlefield 4 Player Count Doubles

Recent statistics show that Battlefield 4’s peak player count increased by an impressive 117.4% over the past 30 days, while its average player count jumped by 50.1%. Battlefield 3 also benefited from the renewed interest, with its peak player count rising by 43.5% and its average player count climbing by 25.7%.

EA has confirmed that Battlefield 6 is aiming to capture the spirit of Battlefield 3 and 4, which helps explain why both titles are seeing a revival. With the Battlefield 6 beta still ongoing, these numbers could climb even higher before the official release.

What’s Next for Battlefield

Once the beta ends on August 17, players will face a wait until Battlefield 6 officially launches on October 10. In the meantime, older titles are expected to remain active as fans return to past favorites.

Interestingly, rumors suggest that Battlefield 2042 could also see a spike in activity soon. A recent leak claims the game may receive a surprise final update featuring a new map, three new weapons, and two returning air vehicles: the A-10 Warthog from Battlefield 4 and the SU-25TM Frogfoot from Battlefield 3. While unconfirmed, this update could give players another reason to revisit the controversial installment.
