Roblox Faces Lawsuit Fallout Over Bans of Schlep and Ruben Sim

Schlep’s Ban Sparks Legal and Public Backlash

Roblox is under intense scrutiny after banning YouTuber Schlep, a creator known for confronting alleged child predators on the platform. The company issued a cease-and-desist letter, claiming he violated safety protocols by staging child-endangerment conversations, sharing identifiable information, and moving discussions off-platform.

Supporters argue that Schlep’s work—credited with leading to six arrests—was in the public interest and that Roblox is targeting him instead of addressing the predators operating within its community. Schlep has since reached out to U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, urging political attention on child safety in online gaming.

Legal Challenges Mount Against Roblox

On August 14, 2025, Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill filed a lawsuit accusing Roblox of failing to adequately protect minors. The lawsuit highlights weak age verification measures and a significant number of reported exploitation cases.

A separate federal lawsuit filed by a Texas mother alleges that Roblox and Discord failed to prevent her daughter from being groomed and assaulted, allowing predators to communicate across platforms. Roblox has filed motions to dismiss the case, citing Section 230 immunity.

Ruben Sim’s Case Resurfaces

The ongoing controversy has revived discussion about Ruben Sim, a creator permanently banned in 2022 after Roblox accused him of harassment, threats, and unauthorized access. The company secured a $150,000 settlement and a permanent injunction against him.

While Ruben Sim’s case centered on platform disruption and security concerns, critics argue that Schlep’s ban is different—targeting someone whose work allegedly exposed systemic safety failures.

Public Pressure Intensifies

With multiple lawsuits, political involvement, and backlash from creators and the community, Roblox is under growing pressure to defend its moderation policies. The outcome of these cases could have a lasting impact on how the platform approaches trust, safety, and user accountability in the future.
