Rockstar Games Has More Than GTA 6 in the Works, Take-Two Confirms

It has been twelve years since the release of Grand Theft Auto 5, and many fans assumed Rockstar Games would now be fully focused on Grand Theft Auto 6. However, recent comments from Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick suggest that the studio is balancing multiple projects at once. In a new interview, Zelnick revealed that Rockstar has “a lot of other things going on” beyond its next mainline GTA title.

GTA 6 Remains the Primary Focus

Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto series has always had long development cycles, with each release aiming for an unmatched level of polish. After the reveal trailer in December 2023, the studio initially planned a Fall 2025 launch for GTA 6. Earlier this year, however, Rockstar delayed the release to May 26, 2026, stating it needed more time to ensure the game meets its high standards.

Despite acknowledging other projects, Zelnick reassured fans that GTA 6 is still the company’s “primary focus.” He also expressed strong confidence in the current release date, saying his “level of conviction” is high and that a second delay is unlikely.

Speculation: The Return of Midnight Club

While Zelnick did not specify what these “other things” might be, one strong possibility is a revival of Rockstar’s Midnight Club franchise. The series, last seen with Midnight Club: Los Angeles in 2008, was once a leader in open-world street racing and car customization.

A next-gen Midnight Club could capitalize on modern racing game demand, offering players a highly detailed city environment and realistic driving physics. Rockstar’s expertise in open-world design, combined with new technology developed for GTA 6, could make for a spectacular comeback.

Other Likely Projects in Development

While Midnight Club is a leading theory, Rockstar’s “other things” could include:

  • Bully Sequel or Remake – A long-requested project with passionate fan support, though no reliable leaks have surfaced recently.
  • Red Dead Redemption 2 Next-Gen Upgrade – Likely given the success of enhanced re-releases and the demand for native PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions.
  • New IP – Rockstar could surprise fans with an entirely original title, following its tradition of innovation.

Fans Shouldn’t Expect Reveals Soon

Even if Midnight Club or another major project is in the works, Rockstar is unlikely to show it before GTA 6 nears release. For now, the studio appears committed to delivering its most ambitious game yet while quietly preparing for what comes next.

With GTA 6 confirmed for May 2026 and Rockstar’s history of pushing the boundaries of gaming, the idea of a Midnight Club revival has racing fans watching closely for any sign of confirmation.
