Niantic has officially announced the Sunkissed Shores event for Pokémon GO, set to run from August 25 at 10 AM to August 31 at 8 PM local time. This summer-themed event will introduce the Water-type Pokémon Dondozo to the game for the first time, alongside a variety of bonuses, wild spawns, and special research opportunities.
Event Bonuses and Wild Encounters
During the event, players can enjoy double Raid Experience, making it a prime time to join Raid Battles. Wild encounters will feature a diverse mix of Pokémon, including Psyduck, Shellder, Marill, Shuckle, Wingull, Tepig, Helioptile, Oricorio (Pom-Pom and Pa’u Styles), Bounsweet, Sandygast, Alolan Exeggutor, and Lechonk.
In Raids, players can expect:
- 1-Star Raids: Slakoth (with a visor) and Tatsugiri.
- 3-Star Raids: Alolan Raichu, Alolan Marowak, and Dondozo.
Timed Research Opportunities
The event will offer one free Timed Research and two paid Timed Research paths:
- Free Timed Research:
- Rewards include 10,000 XP, 7,000 Stardust, and event-themed encounters.
- Paid Timed Research #1:
- 4,000 XP, 3,000 Stardust, a Pinap Berry Bag, and more.
- Paid Timed Research #2:
- 3,000 Stardust, 2 Premium Battle Passes, and encounters with Slakoth and Dondozo.
A Surprise Addition
Interestingly, Dondozo was not part of the recent leak that revealed 17 upcoming Pokémon earlier this month, which listed new arrivals like Walking Wake, Iron Leaves, Sinistcha, Munkidori, Archaludon, Iron Crown, Iron Boulder, and Terapagos. Its debut in Sunkissed Shores comes as an unexpected treat for fans.
What’s Next for Pokémon GO
The Sunkissed Shores event is just one of several upcoming activities. Pokémon GO’s September 2025 Community Day will take place on September 14, spotlighting the Fairy-type Pokémon Flabebe.
Additionally, as part of the GO Fest 2025 celebrations, Niantic has introduced a new Adventure Effect for Eternatus: Dynamax Cannon. This effect increases Eternatus’ power, and any Eternatus caught during GO Pass: Max Finale will know the Charged Attack Dynamax Cannon, unlockable with 5,000 Stardust and 30 Eternatus Candy.
With Dondozo making waves in Sunkissed Shores and more events lined up, Pokémon GO players have plenty to look forward to in the weeks ahead.
