Take-Two CEO Confident GTA 6 Will Launch on Time in May 2026

Grand Theft Auto 6 has been one of the most highly anticipated games in recent memory, with fans eagerly awaiting the sequel for over a decade. While GTA Online and GTA 5 continue to perform strongly despite launching in 2013, the long gap between mainline entries has left the community hungry for fresh content. That anticipation grew more strained when the game’s original Fall 2025 release window was pushed back to May 26, 2026.

With fresh rumors suggesting another possible delay, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has now addressed the concerns head-on.

Zelnick’s Confidence in the May 2026 Launch

Speaking during an appearance on CNBC’s Money Movers, Zelnick was asked about the likelihood of Grand Theft Auto 6 meeting its current release date. He responded with a clear and confident message:

“My level of conviction is very, very high, obviously.”

The interviewer interpreted his statement as confirmation that the May 26, 2026 launch is set in stone. While Zelnick stopped short of making an absolute guarantee, his words appeared to be aimed at reassuring fans and investors alike.

Why Another Delay Would Be Costly

From a business perspective, another delay would be far from ideal. Although GTA 6 is expected to break industry sales records no matter when it arrives, repeated postponements could frustrate the fanbase and raise concerns among investors. Such concerns could impact Take-Two’s market performance ahead of what is arguably its most important release in years.

Meeting the High Expectations

The stakes for GTA 6 are exceptionally high. Beyond the pressure of following up one of the best-selling games of all time, there is speculation that GTA 6 could introduce a higher standard for AAA game pricing. This means that both Rockstar Games and Take-Two are under intense pressure to deliver a product that not only meets but exceeds the expectations of millions of players worldwide.

While Zelnick’s strong public confidence is encouraging, the possibility of unforeseen issues remains. Still, his willingness to go on record with such a statement suggests that Rockstar is firmly on track to meet its planned release date.
