Chibi-Robo! Plug Into Adventure! Joins Switch 2 GameCube Classics on August 21

Nintendo has confirmed that Chibi-Robo! Plug Into Adventure! will join the GameCube Nintendo Classics collection on the Switch 2 on Thursday, August 21. This marks the fifth GameCube title to be added to the growing library, and it will be exclusive to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers with the Expansion Pack upgrade.

One month after Super Mario Strikers arrived on the service, Chibi-Robo is set to become the only GameCube addition for August. To access the game, Switch 2 users will need to download a GameCube app update on release day before enjoying the quirky platformer.

A Quirky Platformer Returns

Originally released in Japan in June 2005 and in the West in February 2006, Chibi-Robo is a unique 3D platformer where players control a battery-powered toy robot tasked with improving life in the Sanderson household.

The main objective is to collect Happy Points by completing various household chores—such as cleaning, tidying, and fixing—while exploring different areas of the home. Over the years, the game spawned sequels on the Nintendo DS and received a Wii remake in 2009. Although the series has since gone dormant, its original developers are working on a spiritual successor called koROBO through Kickstarter.

First 3D Platformer for the GameCube App

Chibi-Robo holds the distinction of being the first 3D platformer in the GameCube Nintendo Classics app. It was previously confirmed for the Switch 2 during the April 2 Nintendo Direct, alongside titles like Pokémon Colosseum.

Nintendo has yet to provide details about future GameCube updates, meaning fans will need to stay alert for announcements on other highly requested titles such as Super Mario Sunshine.

Looking Ahead

While Chibi-Robo may not be one of Nintendo’s most well-known franchises, its distinct gameplay style and charming world have made it a cult favorite. Its arrival on the Switch 2 ensures a new generation of players can experience the adventure for the first time, while longtime fans can relive the joy of helping a tiny robot make a big difference.

With Chibi-Robo joining the collection, attention now turns to which GameCube classics Nintendo will bring to the service next.
