Niantic Confirms Compensation for Pokémon GO Raid Day Bug

Niantic has confirmed that Pokémon GO players will receive compensation following a major bug during the recent Ultra Unlock Raid Day. The issue impacted the intended spawn rates for shiny versions of Origin Forme Dialga and Origin Forme Palkia, a key feature of the event.

The Raid Day was part of this year’s Pokémon GO Fest Ultra Unlock campaign, which rewarded players for completing global challenges. These challenges unlocked special events such as the Hisui Celebration, Steel and Scales, and the highly anticipated Raid Day for the two Legendary Pokémon. However, the event did not go as planned.

Shiny Spawn Rate Issue Confirmed

Niantic’s official support channels confirmed that the Raid Day suffered from an in-game bug affecting the shiny appearance rates for both featured Legendaries. The event was originally intended to offer increased shiny odds, making it a prime opportunity for collectors.

The developer has not yet detailed the form of compensation players will receive but assured that rewards will be distributed at a later date. This delay leaves players waiting to see how Niantic will make up for the missed chance at obtaining the rare shinies.

Upcoming Pokémon GO Fest Max Finale

Despite the setback, Niantic is moving forward with the conclusion of this year’s Pokémon GO Fest. The Max Finale event, scheduled from August 18 to August 23, will introduce Eternatus to the game for the first time. Players will face its formidable Eternamax form in new Max Battles, offering another high-profile challenge.

More Events on the Horizon

Following Pokémon GO Fest, Niantic has already lined up more activities for players. Flabébé will be the featured Pokémon for September’s Community Day, with multiple color variations appearing in different regions. The October and November Community Days are also confirmed, ensuring that trainers have a steady stream of events to look forward to after the summer’s major celebrations conclude.

With the promise of upcoming content and compensation for the Raid Day bug, Niantic aims to keep player engagement high heading into the final months of the year.
