The brutal survival world of Rust is making its way to mobile platforms. Level Infinite has officially announced Rust Mobile with a cinematic reveal trailer and opened pre-registration to players eager to experience the punishing multiplayer survival title on the go.
A Mobile Version True to Its Hardcore Roots
Originally developed by Facepunch Studios and released in early access back in December 2013, Rust became widely known for its unforgiving gameplay loop. Players spawn with nothing and must scavenge, craft, and survive against the elements, wildlife, and other hostile players. Since its full PC release in 2018, Rust has received regular updates, including mission system overhauls, next-gen upgrades, and new content that continues to draw in players more than a decade later.
Now, the franchise is expanding with Rust Mobile, developed by Level Infinite. According to the studio, the mobile version aims to stay faithful to the essence of the original game — ruthless PvP combat, base building and raiding, and sandbox survival — while also offering new features designed with mobile users in mind.
Cinematic Reveal and Gamescom 2025 Demo
The newly released cinematic trailer provides a gritty look at Rust Mobile, highlighting its survival tone and brutal player-vs-player nature. While no gameplay footage has been shared yet, Level Infinite has promised a “fully explorable sandbox” and a gameplay experience on par with the PC version’s intensity.
For fans wanting a closer look, Rust Mobile will be playable at Gamescom 2025 in Cologne from August 20 to 24. Attendees will be able to try out the game for the first time and receive exclusive merchandise, including posters and collectibles. Level Infinite has also confirmed that the version showcased at the event represents significant improvements since the initial tech test earlier this year.
Rust’s Continued Popularity and What’s Next
Despite being on the market for over a decade, Rust continues to grow in popularity. In early 2025, the game broke its own concurrent player record on Steam, hitting over 262,000 players online at once. The title’s longevity is bolstered by constant updates, with the latest one released on July 3 featuring new party mechanics, improved team invites, and snappable deployables for easier base construction.
While an official release date for Rust Mobile has yet to be confirmed, Level Infinite has teased that this is “just the beginning” for the mobile adaptation. With pre-registration already open on rustmobile.com and a public demo just weeks away, players won’t have to wait long to see what’s in store for the next chapter of Rust’s survival legacy.
