The Pokémon TCG Pocket community is preparing for one of the biggest expansions yet as Wisdom of Sea and Sky officially launches on July 30. With over 200 cards to collect, including classic Gen 2 Pokémon, powerful ex cards, and the introduction of baby Pokémon, this fourth main expansion marks a significant step forward for the digital trading card game.
Two Booster Packs and More for Hourglass Collectors
For the first time in Pokémon TCG Pocket’s history, players will receive two booster packs instead of one. This change makes it an ideal moment for players who have been saving their Hourglasses, the currency used to open packs. One pack will be themed around Lugia, and the other around Ho-Oh, offering players a dual glimpse into the Johto region’s legendary powerhouses.
Previously, sets like Eevee Grove only included a single booster pack per event, so this expansion doubles the potential pulls for collectors and competitive players alike. While the exact card lists for each booster are still under wraps, anticipation is building across the community.
What’s in the Wisdom of Sea and Sky Expansion?
The new set puts a strong focus on second-generation Pokémon, featuring favorites such as Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Xatu, Wooper, Ampharos, and Wobbuffet. Headlining the expansion are ex cards for Lugia, Ho-Oh, Espeon, and Umbreon, alongside four new Trainer cards that have yet to be detailed.
Another notable addition is the arrival of baby Pokémon cards—a beloved mechanic from the Gen 2 era. Confirmed cards include Pichu and Cleffa, with standout illustrations by Kanami Ogata and Terada Tera. Full-art renditions of Togepi and others will further enrich the visual appeal of this highly anticipated release.
Major Trade System Changes and New Customization Features
In addition to card additions, the Wisdom of Sea and Sky expansion will overhaul the game’s trading system. A newly introduced wish list feature will allow players to mark the cards they are actively seeking, improving trade visibility and efficiency.
Furthermore, Trade Tokens can now be exchanged for Shinedust, a new in-game currency that will support both trades and Hourglass Pack purchases. This shift brings a more flexible and rewarding approach to in-game trading and resource management.
The in-game store is also receiving a visual upgrade with new accessory items. These include a binder cover and a two-card display board showcasing an epic battle between Lugia and Ho-Oh—fitting for a set that revolves around these legendary Pokémon.
