A new special code revealed during this year’s Pokémon Presents live stream is giving Pokémon GO players a rare opportunity to choose and catch a Gigantamax Pokémon. Available now through August 3, 2025, the promo code GOFESTMAX grants access to exclusive Timed Research that lets players select between Gigantamax Cinderace, Gigantamax Rillaboom, or Gigantamax Inteleon.
Choose Your Gigantamax Starter
This limited-time event ties into the conclusion of Pokémon GO Fest 2025, marking the celebration by offering players a choice between the final evolutions of the three Generation 8 starters: Scorbunny, Grookey, and Sobble. What sets this event apart is the chance to obtain their Gigantamax forms, which are typically locked behind intense 6-Star Max Battles requiring large groups of players to defeat.
Gigantamax Pokémon are a special type of Dynamax Pokémon that not only grow in size but also change appearance and gain powerful G-Max moves. While 33 Gigantamax Pokémon exist in the franchise, only 12 have appeared in Pokémon GO so far, making this event a rare and valuable opportunity for collectors and battlers alike.
How to Redeem the Code
To participate, players must redeem the code GOFESTMAX through the Pokémon GO Web Store before August 3, 2025. Doing so unlocks the “Gigantamax Journey Timed Research”, which is listed under the Events tab in-game. This research consists of five steps, each offering its own rewards and culminating in an encounter with the selected Gigantamax starter.
The research must be fully completed before August 24, 2025. After completion, players will receive their chosen Gigantamax Pokémon encounter.
Eternatus and the Max Finale Event
Also featured in the Pokémon Presents showcase was the global debut of the Legendary Pokémon Eternatus, arriving in Pokémon GO as part of the Max Finale Event. Running from August 23 to August 24, this event will increase the appearance rate of Gigantamax Pokémon in the wild or through special encounters. However, it’s still unclear whether Eternatus’ Eternamax form—known for its game-breaking power—will be introduced.

For many free-to-play players and those in rural or less active areas, the Gigantamax code is especially important. It provides a solo-friendly path to acquiring a normally inaccessible form of Pokémon without the need for large raid groups.
