Pokémon GO has confirmed that Dynamax Latios and Dynamax Latias will make their highly anticipated debut during the upcoming Max Battle Weekend. The event, running from Saturday, July 26, to Sunday, July 27, gives players the chance to battle and catch the Legendary Hoenn duo in their Dynamax forms — with shiny variants also available.
This marks the latest addition to the growing lineup of Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokémon in Pokémon GO, as the Delightful Days season continues to deliver major content drops for fans.
Dynamax Latios and Latias Take the Stage
Dynamax Pokémon first arrived in Pokémon GO in 2024, but Legendary Dynamax Pokémon only started appearing in January 2025 with the Kanto bird trio: Moltres, Articuno, and Zapdos. More recently, the Might and Mastery season introduced Dynamax Raikou, Entei, and Suicune. Now, another iconic Legendary pair joins the roster.
From July 26 at 6:00 AM to July 27 at 9:00 PM local time, Dynamax Latios and Dynamax Latias will appear in five-star Max Battles across the map. Both Pokémon will have a chance to appear in their shiny forms for lucky players.
Event Bonuses
Players can enjoy several bonuses during the weekend event:
- Max Particle collection limit increased to 1,600
- 1/4 adventuring distance required to earn Max Particles
- Power Spots refresh more frequently
- Power Spots yield 8× Max Particles
These boosts will help players collect and use more Max Particles, powering up their Pokémon and unlocking Max Moves more efficiently.
Timed Research and Special Encounters
Ahead of the weekend, a special Timed Research will be available starting Monday, July 21, at 6:00 AM, and running through the end of the event. Completing it will reward players with an encounter with Dynamax Gastly, which is said to be particularly effective against Dynamax Latios and Latias.
Additional Timed Research rewards include Gastly Candy, Max Particles, and other useful items to prepare for the battles.
