Pokémon GO players will soon have another chance to catch the stunning Gigantamax Lapras, as Niantic has announced a new Max Battle Day event scheduled for Saturday, July 19. The event will run from 2 PM to 5 PM local time, offering increased chances to encounter Lapras in its rare Gigantamax form — including a shiny variant.
This special event marks Gigantamax Lapras’ first return since its debut earlier this year, and it comes packed with a variety of in-game bonuses, limited-time research, and special store offers for players to take advantage of.
Event Details and Bonuses
During the three-hour window on July 19, trainers can expect Gigantamax Lapras to appear prominently in Max Battles. As in previous events, players will also enjoy several helpful bonuses:
- Remote Raid Pass limit increased to 20 — active from Friday, July 18, 5 PM PT through Saturday, July 19, 8 PM PT.
- Max Particle collection limit raised to 1,600.
- 1/4 adventuring distance to collect Max Particles (active 12 AM–5 PM local time).
- 2× Max Particles from exploring (active 12 AM–5 PM local time).
- Power Spots refresh more frequently.
- 8× Max Particles from Power Spots.
- Two additional Special Trades can be made.
These bonuses make it easier for players to maximize their participation and stockpile resources during the event.
Timed Research and Paid Options
To complement the Max Battle Day, free Timed Research will become available on Monday, July 14, at 6 AM local time. Players who complete this research before Saturday, July 19, at 5 PM local time can earn:
- An encounter with Dynamax Passimian
- Passimian Candy
- Max Particles
- Additional mystery rewards
For those looking for even more rewards, a $4.99 paid Timed Research ticket will be available, offering enhanced bonuses specifically on July 19 from 2 PM to 5 PM:
- 1 Max Mushroom
- 25,000 XP
- 2× XP from Max Battles
- Increased Max Particle collection limit to 5,600
