Diablo 4 Players Go God Mode After Blizzard Leaves Placeholder Item in Live Build

Blizzard accidentally left a powerful placeholder item in Diablo 4, allowing a handful of players to achieve literal god mode before it was quietly disabled. The item, “[PH] Ichorous Salvation,” was a pair of gloves that never should’ve made it to the live servers—yet somehow did.

The gloves came with a broken damage interaction tied to burning effects and stun grenades, triggering exponential scaling that quickly spiraled out of control. Players equipped with the item were able to deal damage in the quintillions, so massive the game engine started displaying negative numbers due to overflow.

One of the most notable users of the item was content creator Alaimo, who showcased how it allowed him to effortlessly dominate the hardest Pit dungeons introduced in Season 4. The gloves turned even the game’s most brutal endgame content into a trivial walk.

Blizzard issued a hotfix shortly after the issue was discovered, disabling the item’s effect while leaving it in player inventories. It is now marked as “blocklisted,” meaning it can no longer be used, but still exists as a ghost of the studio’s internal development tools.

This isn’t the first time Blizzard has had a slip-up like this. Veteran players may recall “Martin Fury” from World of Warcraft, a debug item that caused a similar stir years ago. In both cases, Blizzard chose not to ban those who used the item, instead opting for quiet fixes with minimal disruption.
