Navi’s Iconic “Hey! Listen!” Returns in Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake

One of the most recognizable voices in gaming history is making a comeback. Nintendo has confirmed that Navi’s iconic “Hey! Listen!” will return in the upcoming remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2.

The remake launches on November 5, 2026, bringing Link’s legendary adventure back with improved visuals, updated gameplay mechanics, and several new features. However, Nintendo wants to preserve the magic that made the original Nintendo 64 game unforgettable.

Navi Is Back, and She Still Wants Your Attention

Anyone who played the original Ocarina of Time probably remembers Navi. Link’s tiny fairy companion became famous for constantly shouting “Hey!” and “Listen!” whenever she had something important to share.

For some players, her interruptions became a running joke. For others, Navi remains one of the most beloved companions in Zelda history.

Nintendo recently shared a short gameplay clip through its official Japanese Zelda account. The footage shows Link fighting a Deku Baba inside the Great Deku Tree.

During the encounter, fans can hear Navi’s familiar voice once again.

Her classic dialogue remains intact, although the remake gives her voice a slightly clearer sound. Nintendo has also improved her appearance with more detailed wings and an iridescent glow.

Navi Will Have More to Say This Time

Nintendo isn’t simply bringing Navi back for nostalgia. The remake expands her dialogue and gives players additional information during their adventures.

Navi will continue helping Link through the familiar Z-Targeting system, which makes fighting enemies and interacting with objects easier.

However, Nintendo has introduced an additional feature.

When players target an enemy and press right on the D-Pad, the game pauses briefly. Navi then provides useful information about the selected enemy.

For example, targeting a Deku Baba reveals different rewards depending on how Link defeats it.

Attacking its head can reward players with a Deku Nut, while striking its stem can produce a Deku Stick.

This feature should make Navi considerably more useful, especially for newcomers unfamiliar with Hyrule’s creatures.

Voice Acting Comes to Ocarina of Time

Another major addition involves voice acting.

Unlike the original Nintendo 64 release, the Switch 2 remake introduces fully voiced cutscenes for several important characters.

Princess Zelda and Ganondorf are among the characters receiving spoken dialogue.

Navi will also have additional voiced lines throughout the adventure. However, Nintendo has not revealed who provides her voice in the remake.

The decision marks a significant change for a game that originally relied heavily on written dialogue.

Nintendo appears determined to modernize the experience without completely changing its identity.

New Gameplay Features Are Coming

Alongside improved visuals and expanded dialogue, the remake introduces several gameplay improvements.

Players can expect:

  • Improved camera controls: Greater freedom when exploring Hyrule and navigating difficult environments.
  • Dedicated jump button: More direct control over Link’s movement.
  • Expanded Navi assistance: Additional enemy information and gameplay hints.
  • Voice-acted cutscenes: Spoken dialogue for several major characters.
  • Trails of Time tapestry: A new feature exclusive to the remake.
  • Zelda Notes integration: Additional functionality through the Nintendo Switch Online mobile application.
  • Updated character models: More detailed appearances while preserving the original designs.

These changes aim to make the adventure more accessible to modern audiences while keeping its classic gameplay recognizable.

Nintendo Wants to Preserve the Original Magic

During the September 8 Zelda 40th Anniversary presentation, series producer Eiji Aonuma discussed the importance of Navi’s guidance.

Her hints helped players understand the world around them, particularly during combat and puzzle-solving.

Although modern games provide more sophisticated guidance systems, Nintendo clearly recognizes Navi’s importance to the original experience.

Removing her familiar voice would have taken away a small but memorable part of Ocarina of Time.

Instead, Nintendo has chosen to preserve her personality while expanding her usefulness.

Hey! Listen! November 5 Is Getting Closer

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remains one of Nintendo’s most celebrated adventures. Its characters, music, dungeons, and world helped shape the future of 3D gaming.

With the remake approaching, longtime fans will soon have another opportunity to explore Hyrule, visit familiar locations, and face Ganondorf.

New players will also get the chance to experience Link’s legendary adventure with modern improvements.

Pre-orders are already available, and the Nintendo Switch 2 remake launches on Thursday, November 5, 2026.

And yes, whether you love her or find her annoying, Navi will be there to remind you of something important.
