The consoles were reportedly destroyed as part of the ongoing backlash against Sony and its latest commitment surrounding the future of PlayStation.
Sony Backlash Is Getting Ugly
Sony has faced growing criticism from parts of the PlayStation community, with its latest commitment adding even more fuel to an already heated situation.
For some players, complaining online apparently wasn’t enough.
The burned PS5 consoles discovered by the kids appear to be another extreme example of just how frustrated some PlayStation owners have become with the direction Sony is taking.
Destroying hardware that has already been purchased obviously doesn’t financially hurt Sony in the same way as refusing to buy future products. However, it does create a striking image of the anger currently surrounding the company.

Burning Your PS5 Sends a Message, But at a Cost
A PlayStation 5 isn’t exactly cheap.
Depending on the models involved, whoever destroyed these consoles potentially burned through thousands in hardware simply to make a statement.
Once you’ve purchased a PS5, Sony already has the money from that sale. Destroying it won’t reverse that transaction.
Refusing to purchase the next console, cancelling subscriptions, avoiding digital purchases, skipping accessories, and refusing to promote the ecosystem can potentially send a much stronger long-term message.
Nevertheless, a pile of burned PlayStation 5 consoles certainly gets people’s attention.
Sony Has a Growing Image Problem
Whether people agree with destroying expensive hardware or think it is completely ridiculous, the discovery represents something Sony shouldn’t simply ignore.
When customers who previously invested hundreds or even thousands into an ecosystem become angry enough to publicly abandon it, something has gone wrong.
Gaming communities can tolerate unpopular decisions. They can tolerate price increases, changes in strategy, and even the occasional corporate disaster.
But repeatedly pushing loyal customers too far eventually damages something much harder to recover than quarterly revenue: trust.
And apparently, somewhere out there, several PS5 consoles have already paid the ultimate price.
