RuneScape: Dragonwilds Keeps Its $29.99 Price for Full 1.0 Launch

RuneScape: Dragonwilds is preparing for one of the biggest moments in the history of the RuneScape franchise. The survival-crafting RPG will officially leave Early Access on September 15, bringing a full 1.0 release alongside its long-awaited console debut.

Despite the jump from Early Access to a complete release, Jagex has confirmed that players will not face the price increase that often comes with a game’s 1.0 launch.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds will remain priced at $29.99 in the United States and £24.99 in the United Kingdom.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds Launches on Consoles September 15

The September 15 release represents much more than the end of Early Access.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds will make franchise history by bringing RuneScape to consoles for the first time in its 25-year history.

The full release is coming to:

  • PC
  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox Series X|S
  • Nintendo Switch 2

Until now, RuneScape has primarily remained a PC and mobile franchise. Dragonwilds will therefore introduce the series to a significantly larger console audience.

Crossplay will also be supported across compatible platforms. As a result, players will be able to explore Ashenfall together regardless of their preferred platform.

Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus Players Can Jump In

The console launch will also receive a significant boost from subscription services.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds will become available through Xbox Game Pass on launch day. PlayStation players will similarly be able to access the game through PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium.

That gives millions of subscribers another way to experience Dragonwilds without purchasing the game separately.

However, players who prefer to own the game will receive some welcome news as well.

Jagex Confirms There Will Be No Price Increase

Moving from Early Access into version 1.0 often results in developers increasing the price of their games. With RuneScape: Dragonwilds receiving additional content and expanding onto several new platforms, a similar increase would not have been particularly surprising.

Jagex has decided against it.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds will continue to cost $29.99 in the United States and £24.99 in the United Kingdom after the September 15 launch.

Therefore, players who deliberately waited for Early Access to finish will not be penalized with a higher purchase price.

The existing price will cover the complete Kuldra’s Saga alongside the free updates surrounding it.

Dragonwilds Has Expanded Throughout Early Access

RuneScape: Dragonwilds has already changed considerably since entering Steam Early Access.

Jagex has continued expanding the survival RPG with additional content and improvements while preparing for the eventual 1.0 release. The full launch will build on that foundation rather than simply marking a change in version number.

Maintaining the existing price also makes the transition considerably easier for newcomers.

Players can purchase the complete release for the same price Early Access players paid, while Game Pass and PlayStation Plus subscribers will have another route into the game.

A Major Milestone for the RuneScape Franchise

September 15 could ultimately become one of the most important dates in RuneScape’s history.

After 25 years primarily associated with PC gaming, the franchise is finally making the jump to modern consoles. PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 players will all get an opportunity to experience Dragonwilds.

Crossplay could make that expansion even more significant by preventing the newly expanded community from becoming completely separated by platform.

Meanwhile, Jagex’s decision to keep the $29.99 price removes one potential barrier for players who intentionally skipped Early Access.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds will officially launch into version 1.0 on September 15.
