Pokémon GO Fixes GO Pass Reward Error and Issues Refunds to Affected Players

Niantic has issued a correction after mistakenly advertising PokéCoins as part of the GO Pass: December reward pool. According to an official notice sent to players, PokéCoins were never intended to be included in the pass, and the error has now been removed from the reward description.

PokéCoins Not Part of the December Pass

When the GO Pass: December launched, the original messaging listed PokéCoins as one of the included rewards. Players quickly noticed the unusual addition, as PokéCoins are rarely distributed through pass-style systems.

Niantic has now confirmed that the listing was incorrect and that PokéCoins were never meant to be part of this month’s pass.

Refunds Issued for Early Web Store Purchases

Players who purchased the GO Pass through the Pokémon GO Web Store before the correction was made will receive full refunds automatically.
No action is required for those players — the refunds will be processed without needing to contact support.

Purchases made in-app are not affected, as the error only existed on the Web Store listing.

Niantic Apologizes for the Mistake

In the message sent to players, the Pokémon GO team acknowledged the confusion and apologized for the misleading information. The pass details have now been updated to reflect the correct rewards.

What This Means for Players

  • Anyone who bought the pass from the Web Store before the fix will be refunded.
  • The GO Pass rewards are unchanged aside from the removal of PokéCoins.
  • Players can continue using the December pass normally once the correction has been applied.

This marks another instance where reward communication has required clarification, but Niantic acted quickly this time to correct the mistake and compensate affected players.
