Battlefield Studios has quietly delivered on a recent promise to the community — the latest Battlefield 6 update has effectively killed XP bot farming lobbies in the game’s Portal mode.
Bot Farming Lobbies Officially Nerfed
Since launch, many players have taken advantage of Portal’s flexibility to join custom lobbies filled with bots, rapidly earning weapon XP and completing challenges. Although not explicitly against the rules, this practice wasn’t the intended use of the mode.
In response, Battlefield Studios confirmed last week that XP farming would soon be nerfed, and the latest stealth update has done exactly that. Players can no longer earn Mastery XP or challenge progress in any Portal lobby where bots are enabled, removing the incentive for farming entirely.
This update effectively ends the use of XP farming lobbies, forcing players to return to regular matchmaking for progression.
Slower Progression Remains a Major Concern
The XP nerf has reignited debate within the community about Battlefield 6’s slow progression system. Many players viewed XP farming lobbies as a workaround for how long it takes to unlock weapons and attachments.
When announcing the change, Battlefield Studios reassured players that progression speed improvements are on the way. However, without these XP lobbies, players may find the grind even more frustrating until those adjustments are implemented.
Rapid Balancing Continues Across Battlefield 6
This isn’t the first time Battlefield Studios has reacted quickly to community feedback. Earlier updates made controversial tweaks to Conquest mode ticket counts, which were later reverted after backlash.
The latest move to rebalance XP farming shows that the developers are continuing to fine-tune Battlefield 6’s systems at a fast pace — though it remains to be seen whether the coming progression overhaul will be enough to satisfy frustrated players.
