Electronic Arts has officially announced that The Sims Mobile will receive its final update today, marking the beginning of the end for the popular life simulation game on mobile devices. The game will be delisted on October 21, 2025, and its servers will shut down permanently on January 20, 2026, rendering it completely unplayable.
Unlimited Energy and Full Unlocks Coming Before Shutdown
Today’s update disables all real-money transactions but introduces unlimited energy to make it easier for players to enjoy the remaining months. EA has also confirmed that on January 6, 2026, all Build Mode and Create A Sim items will become fully unlocked for every player, removing level restrictions and allowing everyone to experience the complete game before its closure.
“We want to give everyone the opportunity to build their dream home, design their perfect Sims, and experience everything The Sims Mobile has to offer before the servers close,” EA stated in the shutdown announcement.
Players Have Until January 20 to Enjoy the Game
Following the final unlock on January 6, players will have just two more weeks to enjoy the game before the servers go dark at 1:59 PM UTC on January 20, 2026. Once this happens, The Sims Mobile will no longer be playable, and all saved progress—stored on EA’s servers—will be lost permanently.
The End of an Era for The Sims Mobile
The shutdown doesn’t come as a surprise to long-time players. EA had already stopped adding new events in January 2024, instead rerunning previous ones. The lack of crossplay or deeper integration with The Sims 4 also prevented The Sims Mobile from maintaining long-term popularity within the franchise.
Originally released worldwide in March 2018 after a year of limited testing, The Sims Mobile offered a portable version of the classic Sims experience. Despite its mixed reception, it built a dedicated fanbase that’s now expressing deep disappointment across the Sims Mobile community and subreddit.
While many players are sad to see it go, EA’s decision to lift restrictions and provide unlimited energy ensures that fans can at least enjoy the final months freely—creating, building, and designing without limits before the curtain closes on January 20, 2026.
