Niantic has revealed new details for the upcoming Pokémon GO Wild Area: Global event, which officially launches on November 15, 2025, worldwide. First introduced in 2024, the Wild Area brought Mighty Pokémon, Safari Balls, and even Dynamax encounters to Pokémon GO. Now, the feature is making a comeback with more content, including the highly anticipated debut of Gigantamax Grimmsnarl.
A Return to the Wild Area
The first Wild Area event last year introduced new mechanics such as Mighty Pokémon, which boast stronger Attack, Defense, and HP stats, and Safari Balls to improve capture rates. Players also faced Dynamax Pokémon, including the electrifying debut of Toxtricity.
For 2025, Niantic is building on that momentum. The event first kicks off on November 7 in Nagasaki City, Japan, before going global on November 15. Players can look forward to the return of Mighty Pokémon, Safari Balls, and themed encounters throughout the game.
New Pokémon and Gigantamax Debut
One of the biggest highlights is the arrival of the Impidimp evolutionary line — Impidimp, Morgrem, and Grimmsnarl — in Pokémon GO for the very first time. Shiny versions of all three will also be available, giving collectors an extra challenge.
Most notably, Gigantamax Grimmsnarl will headline the event in special 6-Star Max Raid Battles on November 15 and 16. This marks the first time Gigantamax Grimmsnarl has been available outside of the mainline Pokémon games, bringing another fan-favorite Galar form into GO’s raid system.
Team GO Rocket and Shadow Raids
Alongside new Max Battles, players will be able to battle Team GO Rocket to earn a chance at catching Shadow Darkrai. Additionally, raids will feature a Shadow Cresselia, while a special wilderness cape-wearing Bewear will also appear in themed battles.
Potential Seasonal Update
Beyond the Wild Area event, Pokémon GO could be preparing another major change. A recent leak suggests that PokéCoins may be included in the October 2025 Season Pass for the first time ever. If true, the Free track could offer 400 coins, while the Premium version may grant up to 1,400 coins. This would significantly expand player access to the game’s premium currency outside of real-money purchases or daily gym defenses.
What’s Next for Pokémon GO
With Gigantamax Grimmsnarl, Shadow Darkrai, and the debut of the Impidimp line, Wild Area: Global is shaping up to be one of Pokémon GO’s biggest events of the year. If the PokéCoin pass update proves accurate, it may also signal a new direction for how Niantic handles rewards and premium content.
Players worldwide will be able to dive into the event starting November 15, 2025, with exclusive battles, Pokémon debuts, and special raids waiting in the Wild Area.
