Guntouchables Hits 2 Million Owners on Steam, but Only 0.8% Have Played It

When Guntouchables launched in August, it was a surprise free-to-keep game on Steam for its first 24 hours. The move drew massive attention, with over 2,000,000 users claiming the title during the promotion. However, despite the impressive number of owners, the game’s actual player engagement tells a different story — peaking at just 16,000 concurrent players so far.

This means that only about 0.8% of players who claimed the game have actually played it, leaving 99.2% of owners yet to log in even once. While the strategy succeeded in getting the game into millions of libraries, the concurrent player numbers suggest that ownership hasn’t translated into active participation.

A Co-op Roguelite with Big Ambitions

Developed by Game Swing, Guntouchables is a co-op roguelite horde shooter designed for up to four players. Teams battle through waves of mutants while completing specific objectives such as rescues or restoration tasks. The game features multiple classes, each with unique skills, and offers on-the-fly build customization through in-mission upgrades and power-ups.

Roadmap and Upcoming Content

Despite the modest active player count, the game’s post-launch plans remain on track. In September, Guntouchables will receive its first major update, introducing a playable and upgradable lobby called the Bunker. This hub will allow players to set up matches while waiting for others to join, aiming to improve the overall co-op experience.

Following the Bunker update, the development team plans to roll out more content, including new missions, enemies, challenges, classes, cosmetics, and additional game modes.

Community Feedback and Potential

Currently holding a “Positive” rating on Steam, Guntouchables has been praised for its fun potential but criticized for its lack of quality-of-life features and underwhelming AI companions. If Game Swing can address these concerns and keep the updates flowing, there’s still an opportunity to convert more of its massive owner base into active players.

With millions of copies already in players’ libraries, the foundation is there — it’s now up to the developers to keep the momentum going and turn curiosity into long-term engagement.
