The second chapter of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s Shiny Treasures of Ruin event has officially begun. Following the overwhelming success of the Shiny Wo-Chien raid, players are now tasked with taking down Shiny Chien-Pao across Five-Star Tera Raid dens. The event started on August 3 and will run until August 17 at 7:59 PM Eastern Time.
Shiny Chien-Pao Raid Details
Shiny Chien-Pao, one of the four Treasures of Ruin, is a Legendary Pokémon with a Dark/Ice dual typing. In its standard form, Chien-Pao resembles a snow leopard with long, blade-like fangs. However, the Shiny version sports a distinct muddy brown coat, making it a noticeable variant from its usual icy appearance.
During this raid event, Shiny Chien-Pao will always have the Ice Tera type and be set at Level 75. It will open battles with Ruination and Haze, followed by a protective shield that players will need to break using Terastallization. Its standard move pool includes Crunch, Ice Shard, Icicle Crash, and Sacred Sword, making it a potent threat with high offensive capabilities.
Strategy Tips and Team Recommendations
Despite its lethal attack stats, Shiny Chien-Pao is relatively fragile in terms of defense, making it a classic glass cannon. Trainers aiming to defeat it efficiently are advised to bring Level 100 Fighting-type Pokémon such as Iron Hands or Zamazenta, which can resist its Ice-type moves and exploit its Dark/Ice weaknesses.
Community Goal: One Million Defeats
Similar to the Shiny Wo-Chien event, players cannot catch Shiny Chien-Pao after defeating it in a raid. Instead, the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet community must collectively defeat it one million times by August 17. If the goal is met, Shiny Chien-Pao will be distributed later in August via Mystery Gift.
The previous event saw Shiny Wo-Chien defeated more than 3.5 million times, unlocking it for all participating players. That Pokémon will be available through Mystery Gift beginning August 8.
Upcoming Raids: Shiny Ting-Lu and Shiny Chi-Yu
After the Shiny Chien-Pao event ends, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will continue the Treasures of Ruin event series. Shiny Ting-Lu is set to appear on August 17, followed by Shiny Chi-Yu beginning August 31. Each will follow the same Mystery Gift distribution model contingent on reaching the one million defeat milestone.
