GOG Extends FreedomToBuy Campaign After Technical Glitch, Offers 13 Free Games

GOG has officially extended its FreedomToBuy campaign, allowing players to claim 13 controversial adult-themed PC games for free. The campaign, originally set to end on August 3 at 7:00 PM CST, has been extended by three hours, now ending August 3 at 10:00 PM CST, due to technical issues that blocked some users from redeeming the games.

Over One Million Players Join GOG’s Protest

The FreedomToBuy campaign is part of a larger movement launched by GOG to protest increasing censorship on major PC gaming platforms, such as Steam and Itch.io. The initiative responds to mounting pressure from payment processors allegedly demanding the removal or suspension of adult or controversial games—even if they are legal.

In just a few days, the campaign saw an overwhelming response, with over one million users downloading the free games. However, GOG faced technical issues, especially around non-functional promo codes, which prevented some users from claiming their copies. To make up for the inconvenience, the platform extended the deadline.

List of Free Games in the FreedomToBuy Campaign

Players can claim the following 13 DRM-free titles as part of the campaign:

  • Agony + Agony Unrated
  • Being a DIK – Season 1
  • Fetish Locator Week One
  • Helping the Hotties
  • House Party
  • HuniePop
  • Leap of Faith
  • Leap of Love
  • Lust Theory
  • Postal 2
  • Sapphire Safari
  • Summer’s Gone – Season 1
  • Treasure of Nadia

A Stand Against Payment Processor Influence

The games included are notable for either being targeted by payment processor pressure or considered at risk of removal from other platforms. GOG has positioned itself as one of the few remaining platforms defending consumer rights, stating that “if a game is legal, you should be free to buy it.

This campaign has not only served as a protest against censorship but also highlighted GOG’s commitment to preserving digital ownership, with all featured games available DRM-free—ensuring that players retain access even if the games are later removed from stores.

Final Chance to Claim the Free Games

With the extended deadline now set at August 3 at 10:00 PM CST, users still have a limited window to grab the games. GOG urges players to act quickly, especially as server loads remain high due to the influx of downloads.

GOG’s FreedomToBuy campaign has resonated strongly with players who are concerned about censorship and digital rights. Whether it will spark lasting change across the industry remains to be seen—but for now, it’s offering gamers a rare opportunity to support uncensored content and preserve access to titles under threat.
