Skyforge, the long-running sci-fi fantasy MMORPG developed by Allods Team and Obsidian Entertainment, is officially shutting down this fall. The PC version will go offline on September 3, 2025, with the console versions following suit on October 29, 2025.
Delisting and Payment Termination Already in Effect
Publisher Innova began winding down the game’s operations earlier this month. As of August 1, Skyforge has been delisted from Steam and 4game.com, with all in-game payments also disabled on that day. While the PC version is no longer available for new downloads, existing players can continue playing until the early September shutdown.
Console players, including those on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, still have access to the game and can download it through their respective platforms. However, all console services will end permanently on October 29.
A Decline Years in the Making
Skyforge originally launched in 2015 for PC, before expanding to PS4 in 2016, Xbox One in 2017, and finally to the Nintendo Switch in 2021. Though it once received accolades, such as MMOs.com’s MMORPG of the Year, the game’s active player base has steadily declined.
According to SteamDB, Skyforge averaged only 16 concurrent players on PC in early August 2025. The last time the title saw over 100 players on Steam was in 2022, underscoring its waning popularity in the increasingly competitive MMORPG market.
Live-Service Fatigue and Final Events
Innova has not offered a detailed explanation for the shutdown, but the fading engagement on PC and likely similar trends across consoles appear to have contributed to the decision. Like many live-service games, Skyforge faced ongoing challenges in justifying operational costs amid low player retention.
As a final send-off, Skyforge will host special events leading up to its closure. These in-game activities will allow players to experiment with a variety of powerful equipment and experience unique game modes one last time. PC players, due to their earlier shutdown date, are expected to be the first to gain access to the farewell tour content.
Skyforge’s closure marks another addition to the growing list of multiplayer titles ending in October 2025, including four additional EA-operated games. Full details about Skyforge’s shutdown events are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.
