RuneScape: Dragonwilds 0.8.2 Update Brings Community Fixes and Quality-of-Life Tweaks

RuneScape: Dragonwilds has received its July 2025 update, marking another step in Jagex’s continued effort to polish its RuneScape-inspired survival game. Officially titled the 0.8.2 update, the latest patch delivers a wave of bug fixes and improvements focused on player experience and community-requested features.

More Forgiving Item Pickups and Improved Cavern Defenses

One of the standout changes in update 0.8.2 is the improvement to how players pick up items from the ground. The clickboxes for dropped items have been made “taller and more generous,” making it easier to interact with items like logs or gear on the ground — a long-standing annoyance for many in the community.

Players hiding in caverns can also now breathe a bit easier. Dragonwilds’ signature threat, Velgar’s scorn — particularly Dragonbreath and Meteor strikes — will now be properly blocked when inside natural formations like caves. This change offers much-needed protection in enclosed areas, better aligning with what players expected from the game’s survival mechanics.

General Bug Fixes and Minor Additions

In addition to the community-requested improvements, the patch introduces several smaller but meaningful fixes:

  • Clock Widget Fix: Nighttime now displays correctly for new characters. Old saves may still encounter the display bug.
  • Cooking Pairings Added: New combinations like Cabbage & Dwellberries and Raw Bird Meat & Potato can now be cooked together.
  • Tent Highlighting Fixed: Garou Tents will no longer appear as interactable objects.
  • Combat Bug Fix: Equipping a Bow will no longer cause players to get stuck in a block animation.
  • Crash Resolved: A known crash when placing Tier 2 Palisade Walls has been patched.
  • Terrain Adjustments: Players should no longer get stuck in certain terrain spots, and some incorrectly placed Marrentill has been removed.

Dragonwilds Continues Strong Post-Launch Momentum

Since its launch in April 2025, RuneScape: Dragonwilds has seen steady monthly updates from Jagex, each refining the game and responding to player feedback. The survival spinoff of the iconic MMORPG quickly became a hit, selling over 600,000 copies in under two weeks and briefly claiming the top seller spot on Steam.

With a vibrant modding community already forming and official support showing no signs of slowing down, Dragonwilds is carving out its own identity within the RuneScape universe. Looking forward, players are anticipating even more ambitious content updates — including possible PvP maps, large-scale PvE encounters, and community-led servers as hinted in a recent player survey.

For now, update 0.8.2 may be a smaller patch than its predecessors, but it continues to address real concerns from the player base, reinforcing Jagex’s commitment to Dragonwilds’ ongoing development.
