Following the release of Title Update 2 for Monster Hunter Wilds, players have encountered a critical bug causing the game to crash when accessing the “Equipment Appearance” or “Palico Equipment Appearance” menus while inside a tent. Capcom has acknowledged the issue and is currently working on a fix.
Crashing Bug Dampens Major Content Update
The crashing bug appeared shortly after the release of Title Update 2 on June 30, which introduced significant new content to the game. Players hoping to change their hunter’s or Palico’s appearance within the tent are instead met with a full game crash, disrupting gameplay and frustrating many who were eager to explore the update’s customization features.
Capcom responded to player complaints via a social media post, confirming the bug and promising a forthcoming patch. As of now, no workaround has been found, and players are advised to avoid using the appearance menus while in the tent until a solution is deployed.
Title Update 2 Brings Beasts, Events, and Customization
Despite the bug, Title Update 2 has been one of the game’s most content-rich patches so far. Capcom’s June Spotlight presentation unveiled the return of two fan-favorite monsters—Lagiacrus and Seregios—alongside new missions, gameplay adjustments, and quality-of-life improvements.
Among the most celebrated additions is the Layered Weapons feature, allowing players to modify the look of their weapons without altering stats. New equipment sets, voice lines, pose packs, and more were also included. The Festival of Accord: Flamefete, a seasonal event encouraging multiplayer celebration, is expected to launch soon.
Technical Troubles Continue for PC Players
While the update injected fresh life into the title, Monster Hunter Wilds continues to struggle with performance issues—particularly on PC. After reaching over 1.38 million concurrent players on Steam earlier this year, the game has now lost over 98% of its player base.
Recent review bombing has highlighted ongoing frustrations, including poor optimization across various hardware configurations and what players perceive as a slow patch cadence.
Despite these setbacks, Capcom remains active in addressing the issues, even as its other franchises generate positive buzz. Resident Evil Requiem, revealed during Summer Game Fest 2025, is set for release in 2026, and the long-delayed sci-fi title Pragmata is now back on the calendar for a 2026 launch as well.
