Warzone Season 4 Ranked Play Delayed Again Due to Performance Issues

Raven Software delays competitive mode once more as players voice frustrations

The developers of Call of Duty: Warzone have announced a delay to the launch of Ranked Play: Battle Royale for Season 4, citing ongoing performance issues that surfaced shortly after the season went live. This marks the second time this year that Ranked Play has encountered setbacks, with Season 3 suffering similar problems that led to temporary disabling of the mode.

Season 4 launched on May 29, delivering a substantial content drop across both Warzone and Black Ops 6. The highlight for many Warzone players was a revamped Verdansk map, which now features a striking new point of interest—Overlook, a towering skyscraper located in Downtown. Alongside this, players received several new additions including:

  • Clash (LTM) on Verdansk
  • New weapons and killstreaks, including the powerful Hand Cannon
  • Construction zones and security checkpoints around Overlook
  • And of course, the now-delayed Ranked Play: Battle Royale

However, just days into the season, Raven Software issued a statement via the official Call of Duty Updates Twitter account confirming the delay of Ranked Play due to unresolved issues. These problems include performance degradation, server disconnects, and crashes—many of which previously plagued the feature in May.

“We are working to bring the experience back to its intended fidelity,” the statement reads, although no precise timeline has been provided for Ranked Play’s return.

The delay has not gone unnoticed by the community. Warzone’s Ranked mode has become a point of contention among competitive players, some of whom expressed their disappointment on social media, citing the recurring instability as a deterrent to engaging with the mode.

Despite this setback, Season 4’s roadmap remains promising. Raven Software is preparing several new additions for the mid-season update, including:

  • Havoc Royale (LTM)
  • Ranked Play: Resurgence
  • Resurgence Casual mode
  • Loot Master Perk
  • Care Package Killstreak

With Ranked Play temporarily off the table, fans will have to wait and see whether the mid-season patch delivers the stable competitive experience they’ve been hoping for.

Stay tuned as we follow up on the latest developments from Raven Software.
