Pokémon GO players are once again reporting strange visual bugs – and this time, it’s giving serious MissingNo energy.
Over the past few days, trainers have taken to social media to share bizarre sightings of their Pokémon appearing broken, distorted, or outright cursed. One player reported seeing their Pokémon glitch out so badly it resembled the iconic MissingNo from the original Game Boy games – a blocky, corrupted sprite that still haunts many childhood memories.
Just a Visual Glitch – But Still Creepy
The good news? These are purely visual bugs. The glitched Pokémon still behave normally in battles, raids, and transfers. However, it’s understandably jarring to open your game and see what looks like a corrupted file where your buddy Pokémon should be.
These issues have affected several Pokémon, but none consistently. The errors appear to be random and are likely tied to texture loading problems, potentially after a recent update or network hiccup.
Not the First Time
This isn’t the first time Pokémon GO has had these strange graphical hiccups. Niantic has a history of rolling out updates that sometimes cause unintended issues, from missing models to upside-down Pokémon. But few bugs strike such a nostalgic nerve as seeing something that resembles the infamous MissingNo – the glitched-out Pokémon that could crash your game or duplicate your items back in Red and Blue.
Niantic Yet to Comment
As of now, Niantic has not publicly acknowledged the issue, and there’s no patch listed in their official support pages. Players are advised to try restarting the app or clearing its cache if they run into texture errors.
Until a fix is rolled out, trainers can expect the occasional haunted Pokémon encounter—just don’t try to catch MissingNo this time. We all remember how that went.
