RuneScape: Dragonwilds Update 0.7.3 to Fix Velgar’s Roof-Breaking Meteors, Adds Cloud Saves

Jagex has shared a sneak peek of what’s coming in the next RuneScape: Dragonwilds update, and for those frustrated by Velgar’s meteor strikes, relief is on the way. While Update 0.7.3 does not yet have a confirmed release date, it is expected to arrive within the next few days—bringing much-needed tweaks to the survival game’s most infamous dragon encounter.

Following its early access launch on April 15, RuneScape: Dragonwilds has rapidly gained traction, drawing in over 50,000 concurrent players at its peak. This open-world survival title set in the RuneScape universe marks a significant departure from the traditional MMORPG format, and it’s already receiving steady post-launch support.

Velgar Meteor Fixes Are Finally Coming

Velgar, one of the most dangerous threats in Dragonwilds, has been a persistent issue for players trying to fortify their bases. Despite offering a formidable and exciting challenge, the dragon’s meteor attacks had an arguably unfair mechanic—crashing through roofs and damaging players regardless of shelter. That’s set to change.

According to the official preview notes on Steam, Jagex is adjusting Velgar’s meteors so they should be “less of a problem now” when players are inside their base with a roof overhead. It’s not clear yet whether this offers full protection, but it’s a welcome improvement for those struggling to survive the Scaly Scourge.

This isn’t the first time Velgar has been nerfed. A previous patch reduced the number of meteors from five to two and limited its poison breath attacks to strafing runs, making encounters more manageable while still intense.

Cloud Saves, Quest Fixes, and More

Update 0.7.3 is also introducing cloud save functionality, a feature that’s been in high demand since launch. Players will no longer need to worry about backing up local files—progress will now be synced across devices automatically.

Other changes in the update include:

  • A fix for completing quests with a full inventory—no more tossing items before speaking to NPCs like Zanik.
  • Improved NPC visibility, including making Spitfoot the Goblin in Vertentis Kara Vault easier to spot.
  • Status effect immunities on AI checked and corrected.
  • Duplication bug fix for ash logs in the Shattered Plains.
  • Improvements to reduce client desync—especially helpful for ranged combat in multiplayer.
  • Respawning bloodwood sap is now gatherable again.
  • Controller fix: LB now functions properly in the crafting menu.
  • Localisation improvements and typo corrections in quests and journal entries.
  • Death-related bugfixes: chests interacted with before dying will no longer stay locked forever.
  • XP balancing for the “Splinter” weapon, which was previously overperforming.
  • Beards no longer clip through helmets—aesthetic polish appreciated.
  • Blood and gravestone VFX tweaks for clarity and immersion.
  • Additional crash fixes for improved stability.

Still No Word on PvPvE Map

Despite speculation, there has been no confirmation yet on the rumored large-scale PvPvE map. However, Jagex has been gathering community feedback through an official survey, suggesting the idea is at least under consideration.

With frequent updates and growing community engagement, RuneScape: Dragonwilds continues to shape itself into a promising new frontier for the RuneScape universe. Players can expect Update 0.7.3 to drop soon, bringing fixes, features, and a smoother experience just weeks after launch.
