4A Games Ukraine has officially rebranded to Reburn and has unveiled its new intellectual property, La Quimera—a first-person shooter set in a fictional Latin American metropolis.
Developed in collaboration with filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive, Only God Forgives) and writer E.J.A. Warren, La Quimera will feature both single-player and cooperative gameplay for up to three players.
4A Games Clarifies Studio Rebranding
Despite the rebrand, 4A Games confirmed that the overall studio name remains unchanged and that it continues work on the next installment of the Metro franchise.
“For clarity, we have not rebranded or changed in any way,” the studio stated on social media. “The same founders and beating heart of the Metro series continue to work on the next Metro game from our studios in Ukraine, Malta, and remotely. We are also still at work on our other new IP as referenced in previous studio updates.”
According to Reburn founder and CEO Dmytro Lymar, the 4A Games Ukraine trademark will still be associated with the Metro series, while the Reburn brand is dedicated to its new projects.
A New Chapter for the Studio
Lymar explained that the name Reburn was conceived with the help of a Kyiv-based creative agency, signifying rebirth or reincarnation in a new form.
“We came up with Reburn with the help of a creative agency here in Kyiv, who will announce their involvement a bit later,” Lymar stated. “The name means ‘burning again,’ but for us, it has a meaning similar to rebirth or reincarnation in a new form, for the creation of a new game with its own IP. But we [have kept] our original values of making games that we would love to play ourselves and taking into account ideas from any member of the team.”
While details on La Quimera remain scarce, the involvement of Refn suggests the game could feature a unique narrative and cinematic presentation. With the Metro franchise still in active development, fans of 4A Games can expect ambitious projects from both the original studio and its newly formed division.
