Warner Bros’ free-to-play crossover brawler MultiVersus will be shutting down its online servers on May 30, 2025, marking the end of its playable online lifespan. The game, which let players create bizarre team-ups—such as Velma and Arya Stark battling Superman—will no longer be available for online matches after its upcoming Season 5.
Online Features Ending, Offline Play Still Available
MultiVersus will be removed from Steam, the Epic Games Store, and PlayStation/Xbox stores once Season 5 concludes. However, players will still have access to offline modes, allowing them to fight against AI or play locally with friends. To ensure offline access, players must log into the game at least once between February 4 and May 30 to generate a local save file.
After the servers go down, all in-game purchases will be locked in, but any content acquired before the shutdown—including characters and skins—will remain usable in local play.
Season 5: The Final Update
Launching February 4, the final season of MultiVersus introduces two new characters:
- Aquaman (DC Comics) – Available as a Battle Pass reward
- Lola Bunny (Looney Tunes) – Unlocked via daily login rewards
As of today, real-money transactions have been disabled, but players have until May 30 to spend any remaining Gleamium or character tokens before the online shutdown.
The Rise and Fall of MultiVersus
At launch, MultiVersus was widely praised and even earned a spot on best free-to-play, multiplayer, and co-op games lists. However, after a strong initial reception, its player base declined due to content droughts and balancing issues. While the game is not completely disappearing, this shift to offline-only play signals the end of its once-promising live-service era.
For those who still enjoy MultiVersus, now is the time to claim final rewards and ensure offline access before the servers go dark.
