Steam Adds Two New Free-to-Keep Offers for October

Steam users have two new freebies to claim in early October. However, there is one important catch. Neither offer includes a complete game.

The latest Steam Free-to-Keep promotion includes DLC for Rotwood and MXGP 26. Both offers remain available until October 15 at 10:00 am PT / 1:00 pm ET.

Players who claim the DLC before the deadline can keep it permanently. However, each item requires its respective base game to actually use the content.

No Steam Free Weekend This Time

Steam’s Autumn Sale has already packed the platform’s early October schedule. As a result, there is no regular Steam Free Weekend running from October 1 through October 5.

Instead, players can turn their attention toward the latest Free-to-Keep offers.

There is an important difference between these promotions. A Free Weekend only provides temporary access to participating games. Once the event ends, players lose access unless they purchase them.

Free-to-Keep promotions work differently. Players only need to claim the offered content before the deadline. Once claimed, it stays attached to their Steam account permanently.

This time, the promotion features the Drakin Armoury Pack for Rotwood and the Scrubdesignz Liveries for MXGP 26.

Rotwood Drakin Armoury Pack Is Free

The biggest offer comes from Rotwood, with its Drakin Armoury Pack available for free.

Unlike a small cosmetic DLC, this pack adds a substantial amount of new content. It introduces the Drakin as a playable race alongside a new Greatsword weapon.

Players can also experience a new storyline involving Brother Tendy. The quest sends players after thieves who stole his ceremonial armor.

The DLC also brings additional variants, mini-bosses, and armor mirages into the game. That makes this one of the more substantial Free-to-Keep DLC offers currently available on Steam.

There is still a catch. Players need the Rotwood base game to use the DLC.

Fortunately for anyone interested in jumping in, Rotwood currently has a 25% discount. Existing owners can simply claim the DLC and add it permanently to their account.

MXGP 26 Players Can Grab Free Liveries

The second offer targets a very different audience.

MXGP 26 players can claim the Scrubdesignz Liveries DLC for free during the same promotional period.

As its name suggests, this DLC focuses on cosmetic content rather than new gameplay features. It adds Scrubdesignz liveries that players can use within the motocross racing game.

MXGP 26 launched on October 1 with a standard price of around $50. Its early Steam reception has been mixed, with roughly 46% positive reviews at the time of writing. However, the total number of reviews remains relatively small this early after launch.

Just like the Rotwood offer, players need to own the base game before they can use the free DLC.

Two Freebies, But Both Require Their Base Games

These aren’t free games, so players should keep their expectations in check.

The Drakin Armoury Pack clearly offers the larger amount of additional content. It includes a playable race, weapon, storyline, enemies, and other additions for Rotwood. Meanwhile, the MXGP 26 offer focuses entirely on cosmetic liveries.

Still, both promotions are legitimate Free-to-Keep offers.

Players don’t necessarily need to install or play the games immediately either. Claiming the DLC before the promotion expires will permanently add it to their Steam library.

Both offers are scheduled to expire on October 15 at 10:00 am PT / 1:00 pm ET.

Anyone who already owns Rotwood or MXGP 26 may therefore want to grab the relevant DLC while it costs nothing.
