Borderlands 4 Players Can Grab 3 Free Golden Keys With New Shift Code

Borderlands 4 players have another chance to grab some free loot. Gearbox has released a new Shift Code that rewards players with three Golden Keys. However, the code will only remain active for a few days.

The new code arrives during a busy period for Borderlands 4. Gearbox has continued to expand the looter shooter throughout 2026 with new characters, locations, missions, and plenty of additional gear.

Players who recently returned for the latest content can now add three Golden Keys to their inventory without spending anything.

New Borderlands 4 Shift Code Gives 3 Golden Keys

Gearbox president Randy Pitchford shared the latest Shift Code, which rewards players with three Golden Keys.

Shift Code: 39FJ3-CTJTK-CXTBC-JTJ3T-W95RK

The code expires on October 6, 2026, so players have a limited amount of time to redeem it.

Players can redeem the code directly through the Shift menu inside Borderlands 4. Alternatively, they can enter it through the official Shift website.

Once redeemed, the three Golden Keys can be used on the Golden Chest. Opening the chest rewards randomized gear based on the player’s current progression.

Because of that, players may want to think about when they use their keys. Saving them until later in a playthrough can potentially provide gear suited to a higher progression level.

Borderlands 4 Has Plenty of New Content to Explore

The free Golden Keys arrive shortly after another major expansion of Borderlands 4.

On September 10, Gearbox released Story Pack 2 alongside Loveless, the game’s newest Vault Hunter. Loveless focuses heavily on cybernetics and uses a digital virus that can take the physical form of a Wyrm.

The new Vault Hunter gives players another way to approach combat and character builds. More importantly, Loveless arrived alongside a much larger collection of content.

Story Pack 2 introduced Providence, a tropical location packed with new things to discover. Players can tackle additional story missions, side missions, activities, and collectibles throughout the area.

The expansion also introduced new Tediore enemies and more loot to hunt down.

For players who stepped away from Borderlands 4 after finishing its earlier content, the combination of Loveless and Providence provides another reason to return.

Golden Keys Can Help With the New Loot Grind

Golden Keys have long served as an easy way for Borderlands players to obtain additional equipment. Borderlands 4 continues that tradition through its Golden Chest.

The rewards remain randomized, so using a key doesn’t guarantee a particular weapon or piece of equipment. Still, three additional attempts at useful gear can help players working through the latest missions or experimenting with Loveless.

Gearbox regularly distributes Shift Codes through promotions and social media. Some remain active for extended periods, while others disappear quickly.

This particular code has a clear deadline.

Players interested in claiming the three free Golden Keys should redeem 39FJ3-CTJTK-CXTBC-JTJ3T-W95RK before October 6, 2026.

With Story Pack 2 now available and more loot waiting across Providence, those three keys could provide a useful boost for returning Vault Hunters.
