Another major Pokémon Winds and Waves leak has surfaced online, this time allegedly revealing the full map planned for Generation 10. If the leaked material is legitimate, the new region could be considerably larger than the initial teaser suggested, with Australia apparently included alongside Southeast Asia.
Pokémon fans have been picking apart every detail surrounding Winds and Waves since its reveal on Pokémon Day 2026. However, official information remains extremely limited. The Pokémon Company has only shown the three base-form starter Pokémon so far, while the reveal trailer strongly suggested a region inspired by Southeast Asia.
The latest leak potentially paints a much bigger picture.
Gen 10 Could Stretch All the Way to Australia
According to the newly circulated material, the world map for Pokémon Winds and Waves isn’t limited to a single Southeast Asian-inspired landmass.
The alleged map appears to incorporate locations inspired by Southeast Asia and Australia, potentially making Generation 10 one of the most geographically ambitious Pokémon settings yet.
That doesn’t necessarily mean players will be exploring a one-to-one recreation of Australia. Pokémon regions traditionally take inspiration from real-world locations while changing their geography, cities, landmarks, and cultures to fit the series.
Still, Australia’s apparent inclusion would considerably expand what fans previously expected from Gen 10.
It could also explain the game’s Winds and Waves naming. With such a large geographical area potentially involved, travelling across oceans, islands, and different environments could become an important part of the adventure.
The Leak Reportedly Contains Old Development Material
Interestingly, the map isn’t the only piece of information making the rounds.
The leak reportedly contains another version of the Generation 10 professor, apparently originating from early development material created around 2023.
At that point, Pokémon Winds and Waves was allegedly being designed with the original Nintendo Switch in mind.
That makes the material particularly interesting because the finished project has since been announced as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive.
If genuine, these early assets could therefore represent a considerably older version of the game. Designs, locations, mechanics, and even parts of the map may have changed during development.
That’s an important distinction when looking at leaks this far ahead of release.
Professor and Champion Have Already Appeared in Previous Leaks
This isn’t the first alleged Pokémon Winds and Waves development leak.
Previous leaked material reportedly revealed designs for the game’s Professor and Champion, giving fans an early look at two characters expected to play important roles in Generation 10.
One of the stranger rumors surrounding the Champion claims that the character could have some connection to time travel.
That would certainly be an unusual direction for a Pokémon Champion, although time manipulation isn’t exactly foreign territory for the franchise. Until official story details arrive, however, claims surrounding the Champion should remain firmly in the rumor category.
The appearance of another professor design in the latest material could also demonstrate how much the character changed throughout development.
Don’t Expect the Big Gen 10 Reveal Just Yet
Despite the growing number of leaks, fans may still have a fairly long wait before The Pokémon Company properly opens the floodgates.
Current rumors suggest that Pokémon Winds and Waves may not receive its next major presentation until Pokémon Day 2027 on February 27.
That would give Pokémon plenty of time to gradually build anticipation before revealing the region, new Pokémon, characters, gameplay systems, and hopefully a release window.
For now, the three starter Pokémon remain the biggest officially showcased additions to the Generation 10 Pokédex.
Everything beyond that should be treated carefully.
DLC Is Already Being Rumored
Another interesting claim from previous leaks is that Pokémon projects developed after Generation 9 were apparently conceived with at least one DLC expansion in mind.
If accurate, Pokémon Winds and Waves could eventually follow the model established by Pokémon Sword and Shield and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, where major post-launch expansions added new locations, Pokémon, characters, and storylines.
However, calling DLC “confirmed” would be premature until The Pokémon Company actually announces it.
Planning content during development doesn’t necessarily guarantee that every planned expansion will survive until release.
Australia Would Be a Huge Addition
Australia has long been one of the real-world locations Pokémon fans have wanted to see inspire a mainline region.
Its wildlife alone gives Game Freak plenty of material to work with. Kangaroos, koalas, crocodiles, snakes, spiders, marine life, deserts, tropical environments, and the Great Barrier Reef could all provide inspiration for new Pokémon and regional environments.
Combining that with Southeast Asian influences could give Winds and Waves an enormous variety of biomes.
It could also make water exploration significantly more important than it was in recent generations.
Of course, that’s assuming the leaked map actually represents something close to the final game.
Pokémon Fans Should Still Treat the Leak With Caution
Pokémon leaks have become almost unavoidable, especially after enormous amounts of internal development material have circulated online in recent years.
But an old development map isn’t necessarily a final map.
If this material genuinely dates back to 2023, Pokémon Winds and Waves could have undergone substantial changes since then — particularly following its transition from a project allegedly targeting the original Switch to a Switch 2 exclusive.
For now, Australia’s apparent inclusion is an exciting possibility rather than an officially confirmed feature.
If the leak proves accurate, though, Generation 10 could be taking Pokémon players much farther south than anyone expected.
