Zero Stress King Gets Huge Free 2.0 Update Before Price Increase

Zero Stress King: Idle Defense has received its massive Version 2.0 update, bringing a substantial amount of new content to the game. Better yet, the developer has included everything as part of the base game rather than turning the expansion into paid DLC.

The update introduces new areas, defenders, enemies, bosses, challenges, achievements, skills, quality-of-life improvements, and several unusual new ways to play. However, there is also a good reason for interested players to pay attention now: the game’s price is set to increase.

Version 2.0 Adds a Lot More to the Game

Version 2.0 is far more than a small collection of balance changes and bug fixes. It significantly expands the amount of content available in Zero Stress King: Idle Defense.

The update includes:

  • New islands
  • 8 new defenders
  • 16 new mobs
  • 2 new monuments
  • 2 boss fights
  • 2 boss challenges
  • 7 new achievements
  • New skills
  • Infinite skills
  • New Beach Mode features
  • Targeting improvements
  • Save protection improvements
  • Optimization and bug fixes

For existing players, that means there is considerably more to discover without needing to purchase an additional expansion.

Beach Mode Gets Some Rather Wild Tools

Beach Mode has also received some interesting additions through what the developer describes as “legal cheats.”

Players can now make use of a nuke, manually trigger enemy waves and increase their income speed. These options should give players more control over how they approach Beach Mode while also opening the door to some deliberately chaotic situations.

It is an unusual approach for an idle defense game, but one that could make experimentation considerably more entertaining.

More Defenders, Enemies and Bosses

The additional defenders and enemies form one of the biggest parts of the update.

Eight new defenders provide players with more options when creating their defenses, while 16 additional mobs increase the variety of enemies attacking them.

Two new boss encounters have also been added alongside two dedicated boss challenges. Combined with the new monuments and islands, Version 2.0 considerably expands the progression available compared with the previous version of the game.

Seven additional achievements have also arrived for players who enjoy hunting down everything a game has to offer.

Infinite Skills Arrive

The skill system has been expanded as well.

Alongside regular new skills, Version 2.0 introduces infinite skills, giving long-term players another progression system to work with.

For an idle game, extended progression can be particularly important. Players who have already invested a significant amount of time need something meaningful to continue working toward, and infinite upgrades could help provide that long-term objective.

A Requested Trophy Change Is Finally Here

The developer has also listened to player feedback regarding trophies.

Trophies can now cover all friends simultaneously, removing one of the limitations players had previously encountered. It may not sound as dramatic as new bosses or defenders, but quality-of-life changes like this can make a significant difference during longer play sessions.

Targeting has also been improved, alongside changes to number formatting and other smaller systems.

Better Save Protection and Optimization

Version 2.0 isn’t solely focused on adding new content.

Additional save protection has been implemented, while optimization work should help the game perform better. Numerous bugs have also been addressed as part of the update.

Those technical improvements are particularly welcome considering how much additional content is being introduced at once.

The Best Part: It Isn’t Paid DLC

Perhaps the most notable decision surrounding Version 2.0 is how the developer chose to release it.

The huge collection of new content has been added directly to Zero Stress King: Idle Defense rather than being separated into paid DLC.

That means existing owners automatically gain access to the new content.

However, there is a catch for people who haven’t purchased the game yet.

Zero Stress King Is Getting More Expensive

Developer Pauloondra has confirmed that the price of Zero Stress King: Idle Defense will increase following the current period.

That effectively creates a window where new players can purchase the game at its existing price while still receiving everything introduced through Version 2.0.

Considering how much additional content has now been added, a future price adjustment isn’t particularly surprising. Still, anyone who was already considering picking up the game may want to keep the upcoming increase in mind.

Version 2.0 Feels More Like an Expansion

Calling this simply another update arguably undersells its size.

With new islands, eight defenders, 16 mobs, additional bosses, challenges, monuments, achievements, infinite skills and major Beach Mode additions, Version 2.0 resembles the type of content package that could easily have been released as a separate expansion.

Instead, existing players receive it as part of the game.

For Zero Stress King: Idle Defense, Version 2.0 represents a significant step forward — and with a price increase planned, the game itself is about to enter its next phase as well.
