Nintendo is preparing for another busy week for The Legend of Zelda fans, with the new Mineru’s Construct amiibo scheduled to arrive on September 17. Unfortunately for collectors hoping to secure one early, pre-orders have already sold out.
The $34.99 figure is based on Mineru’s Construct from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and arrives during an increasingly packed period for the franchise. With Zelda celebrating its 40th anniversary, Nintendo has been using the occasion to reveal new games, hardware, accessories, collectibles, concerts, and even more details surrounding the upcoming live-action movie.
For amiibo collectors, however, September 17 could become another race to find stock.
Mineru’s Construct Amiibo Launches September 17
The Mineru’s Construct amiibo officially launches on Thursday, September 17, with a recommended retail price of $34.99.
Pre-orders have already sold out, meaning anyone who missed the initial opportunity may need to wait for additional stock or try their luck at physical retailers on release day.
Nintendo’s store appears to leave the possibility of additional availability open, although there is currently no clear indication of when or how much stock could return.
Considering how quickly some Zelda merchandise has disappeared following recent announcements, collectors interested in Mineru’s Construct may want to keep an eye on retailers as launch day approaches.
What Does the Mineru’s Construct Amiibo Unlock?
The figure is not purely intended as a collectible. Players can scan Mineru’s Construct in several Zelda games to receive additional in-game items.
The biggest reward is found in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Scanning the amiibo gives Link access to a special paraglider fabric based on Mineru’s Construct. Players can use the fabric to customize the appearance of Link’s paraglider, while additional random helpful items can also be received.
The amiibo also works with Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Scanning it in those games provides random items, although the special paraglider fabric is exclusive to Tears of the Kingdom.
That gives the figure some additional functionality for players rather than making it something that simply sits on a shelf.
Young Link and Young Zelda Amiibo Are Coming Too
Mineru’s Construct isn’t the only new Zelda amiibo Nintendo has prepared.
Young Link and Young Zelda figures were also revealed, featuring designs inspired by the redesigned characters appearing in the upcoming Ocarina of Time remake.
Both figures have already sold out through pre-orders as well.
At the moment, it remains unclear when additional pre-order stock will become available. As with Mineru’s Construct, however, retailers could potentially receive units for general sale around launch.
The speed at which the figures disappeared demonstrates that demand for Zelda amiibo remains strong even after years of Nintendo producing figures based on the franchise.
Zelda’s 40th Anniversary Is Getting Bigger
The new amiibo releases form just one part of Nintendo’s wider celebration of The Legend of Zelda.
A recent Zelda-focused Nintendo Direct placed considerable attention on the upcoming remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time while also revealing several other products and projects surrounding the franchise.
Pre-orders opened following the presentation for the remake alongside newly announced hardware and accessories.
Nintendo revealed a Zelda-themed Nintendo Switch 2, Switch 2 Pro Controller, and carrying case. Demand was immediately high, with most of the physical hardware and accessories quickly selling out.
Interestingly, the Ocarina of Time remake itself remained available while much of the merchandise surrounding it disappeared.
That situation once again highlights just how significant the collector market has become around Nintendo’s biggest franchises.
The Legend of Zelda Movie Is Also Moving Forward
Nintendo is also expanding Zelda outside gaming.
The upcoming live-action movie is officially titled simply The Legend of Zelda, without an additional subtitle currently attached.
The project represents another major step in Nintendo’s growing push into movies following the enormous success of its Mario adaptations.
Zelda concerts and other anniversary activities are also planned, making the franchise’s 40th anniversary considerably larger than a single game release.
Still, the Ocarina of Time remake appears to be one of the central gaming projects surrounding the celebrations.
September 17 Is Becoming a Big Nintendo Release Day
Nintendo has packed several releases into September 17.
Alongside the new Zelda amiibo figures, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave launches for Nintendo Switch 2 on the same day.
That creates a surprisingly crowded Thursday for Nintendo fans, particularly those interested in both Zelda collectibles and one of Nintendo’s other major RPG franchises.
For Zelda collectors, however, the biggest challenge might simply be finding the new figures.
Pre-Order Sellouts Could Make Launch Day Interesting
A sold-out pre-order does not necessarily mean the Mineru’s Construct amiibo will be impossible to find.
Retailers commonly reserve at least some inventory for launch-day sales, and additional online stock can appear around release. Nintendo could also produce additional waves depending on demand.
There are no guarantees, though.
With Mineru’s Construct, Young Link, and Young Zelda already selling through their initial pre-order allocations, September 17 could become another familiar amiibo stock hunt.
Players who only care about the in-game rewards can ultimately survive without one. For Zelda collectors trying to build a complete amiibo collection, however, missing the initial pre-order window could make the next few days considerably more interesting.
